I went for the 096 sized battery for my van which was fitted with the smaller compatable size but I had a 096 Lion battery in my old diesel golf that I swaped out in mean time .............
I've been keeping an eye on eBa* for an decent 096 battery for the price or less than the price of a 012 I think is the equivilant smaller output listed..........
Halfrauds prices is a big NoNo for me Try some of your local motor factors (ie TMS) they can sometimes come up with good prices and lets face it .....................
On you doorstep for warranty if needs etc and get it right away even if it's a couple quid more is sometimes way to go........

Hi Vaz, yes I been looking at local parts dealers around me and so far Halford been cheapest, but I have a mate who will test it today if I get it started and take it to him, he can get better prices too through his mechanic trade discounts. I just need it to start later lol lucky for me my work is walking distance so no to worried if can't sort today, I'll check out your 096 sized option, thanks for advice.

I've never needed to change a starter on van so can't really comment .....
Be all down to access I'd imagine..............
Did RAC man make any other comments like poor or cr*py connections ..........
(In past Ive had that little wire from solenoid to starter fail on me before just from falling to bits)...........
Was just incase you had bad or coroded earth{engine to chassis and earthing through throttle cable or similar} or feed cable ETC ............

You could confirm if it's the starter by roling down a hill. Give it a good glow plug warm and see how well it starts on there

Thepoolman, I have fitted a brand new one and promptly removed it again after van died an untimely death. It only had about a months use. Very easy job to do, few bolts etc. Can send it you for £60+delivery cost. If interested let me have your postcode and I'll get on it.

Hi Ken, yes I have the pleasure of living get in a new build flat road and have no chance of a downhill bump start. My luck lol. Thanks though
Hi Bad robot, thanks for offer but my son said he will get one through his trade discount as a mechanic, I've tried using my Allen keys to loosen the bolts but we'll stuck, I'll borrow some socket sets weekend, and thank you for the offer.
