Anyone out in the weather?

You can never tell with these alerts and warnings just how bad it might be. Last time I dismissed one I was snowed in.

Nowt drastic here in N Yorks yet though.

With the amount of yellow weather warnings I've received I should be up to my butt in snow or busy building an Ark as we're meant to be flooded out also...........

I was thinking if it keeps this up I might just chance it and go out in van some where but I've got hospital appointments this week......

So won't be far if it happens ..................

Getting up a bit. Not a storm chaser or anything but I do enjoy them.

I hear that after the weekend rain and wind there will be MEGA THUNDER SNOW!!! (not my caps). I will head uphill and snuggle in. smile

I'm always out in it, I know I'm gonna have to pick sheltered spots for the next few days.

I'm working in the van during the week so I'll be on campsites as I need electric hookup. Probably gonna be around West Lancs

I'm not one of those storm chasers either in fact I used to get uptight depending on what work we were doing if weather got rough.... Curtain siders can be a big kite,.... Box vans nexton list, fridge trailers were best of that bunch then as we only ever used a fridge with max 4.0 M running height + weight has a lot to do with it also but all become empty at some point........ when I was on bulk tankers mainly Dairy Products weather was never really an issue other than keeping dry obviously when working outside.... I hated the Safety harnesses ... was forevevr getting in my way and tangleing up in them.............
I Digress this reminds me of a lot of sailings over the years (infact they'll probably not venture out in this)............
But right now I'm thinking 2013 Sept Sailing was 3Hrs late .....Lots of (another story) and took about 3 hrs or more before we landed in Calais.............
And on route to Spain in the 306 I refused somewhere in France to pitch the tent (Khyam Biker) and found that we were able to fit/sleep in back of 306 (With rear seats down in fetal position) in what turned out to be an Epic stormy down pour and a big reason (along with current ailments) why we started hunting out a Van .... As we've got now............. The 306 did another two trips to Spain before the following Sept in 2014 and the van arriving

I was half planning to going for a wander out somewhere nearby last night but did my back in yesterday morning .. so probably not going anywhere anytime soon neutral

Suffering a frozen shoulder myself Tiree. Strange thing is I can make myself more comfy in the van than at home. Mind you...the opiates help. wink (Legal and not of course while driving)

Moved from my spot by the River Aire as the water started to surround me. Quite a few waterlogged cars abandoned on the flooded road out but the van never hesitated.

Can't see you getting much done outside next week Ken.

Monday when the last storm hit here i had to go to Lancaster. Today Denis is belting and had to go out again for 120 mile round trip. The dispatch did me proud. OK down to 60 mph max in the head wind but flew home (Y)

Still riding out this back injury - had a night in the van on Friday there and was definitely more comfortable than my bed in the house. Time for a new bed I think!

My current bed is proper hospital standard, orthopaedic, etc. It's the pillow support of my neck and head that I can't get right and set's the pain off.

My van bed is to all intents and purposes, awful. Being made up from front and rear seats it is quite a pronounced "S" curve. But sleeping sideways on this seems to support everywhere I need it.

Either that or I have spent so much time in it that I have modified my spine to suit.

When I came back from Aus, having spent three months in actual beds, I found my van bed super uncomfortable. I had aches in my shoulders and my back for days. But a couple of weeks of sleeping in it later it's actually comfy again.

I think you might be right, we morph to the beds!

Hi all, yes I was in great Langdale last weekend during storm Dennis. Got there round 7 on the Saturday night after snapping the exhaust on route. Bedded down in the National trust car park next to the Stickle Barn, which was closed due to the weather, so went to the Dungeon Ghyll Hotel walkers bar for Gammon and chips and a pint. Had intended going for a walk up to Stickle Tarn but the conditions didn't improve on the Sunday, so just went to the Dungeon Ghyll hotel again for a full English before the drive home with the exhaust scraping the ground all the way.
All ended well though, as I replaced the broken exhaust on the Dispatch for the stainless one from my Dead Scudo.

Been a strange couple of weeks. Mostly stuck in the van with little visibility but even then I enjoy it.

Same. I've been travelling about the country, mostly down south. The story of the last two weeks is just... wet. Everything is wet.

Today started to show a glimpse of spring in Nottingham though, things are on the up!

Yes you are right there Oat, I was traveling light, no awnings no folding tables no stoves or gas bottles, not really because of the weather but because I would have got kicked off the National Trust car park and I didn't need them anyway because the hotel over the road serves food and hot drinks from 08.00 - 20.00

As an aside, it is quite a good place to park though, although it isn't free, it does have 24/7 toilets with running water for those of us who are bothered about such things and it is a good place to use as a base if you want to be away from the towns and the crowds of the camp sites in the lake district, especially if you don't have any food or cooking facilities.
