2005 Diesel Dispatch faulty horn

New member, found the forum whilst searching for wiring diagrams for the Dispatch. Looks a great place, thanks for accepting my registration.

I'm trying to fix up my buddie's 2005 diesel Dispatch at the mo, his horn isn't working.

I replaced the indicator stalk a few weeks ago for him because the indicator switching was intermittently faulty. I bought a mid-price non OEM replacement stalk off ebay & it worked fine once fitted. All functions ok including the horn push switch on the end of the stalk.

Couple of weeks later & he tells me the horn stopped working, after having been fine straight after the stalk replacement, a day or 2 ago.

Looked through all the fuses in the main underbonnet fusebox, they all seem ok. Likewise looked through all fuses in the glovebox panel, again, all ok.

I found a horn mounted to a strut in the passenger side front wheelarch, in front of the wheel. I don't know if this is the standard location for the horn, is it possible this horn is an aftermarket / alarm thing, with the vehicle's 'main' horn being located elsewhere? (somebody told me the 'real' horn is hidden away behind the bumper, below one of the headlights)

I did try to prise off the connector from the horn I did find, to see if I could test the wires for 12V if I pressed the horn button. The connector wouldn't budge - so the metering will have to be done tomorrow now I've found my flat screwdriver to try and persuade the connector off.

Is there a replaceable horn relay on these vehicles, or a non-replaceable relay soldered up inside the guts of the fusebox? Or, is it wired without a relay at all?

Any info / thoughts appreciated. Neil

I am sure the horn is under the plastic inner wing. Never had the need to go looking for it but the strut just sounds so wrong. As for a relay there is a handbook available in the download section what tells you what fuse and relay is for what.

I have actually seen a mounting for a something on the front wheelarch in the engine bay - could be a horn, or maybe alarm?

Kenbw2's diagram fitment looks good.......

My van's a 2005 facelift and horn's located behind and between the wheelarch liner and N/S spot light blank in bumper.......

It's a bit of a peep peep one

No help but last Wednesday i noticed the new to me Convoy had no horn. Fuse was good and no relay so thought it must be horn. Had to take out the front mid section bumper to get to the bugger. Took it out and hooked up direct to battery. After shitting myself at how loud one air cone horn was i has to investigate more and it turns out as its a middle steering wheel push horn its a bit spring wire on a large ring round the back of the wheel. The bugger had years of crap on it and not making contact. Not realising i was parked with wheels not straight i put the steering back on wrong. Oh how much a squint steering wheel is a pet hate Ahhhh, need to strip it out again
