Re: Diesel leaking pipe

There is a collar/ sleeve? with a thread I got it finger tight and then put the banjo back and tightened bolt. It's not moving now. Hopefully that's okay. I'm guessing it is supposed to tighten along with the bolt? But wasn't.IMG_20200316_122230870.jpeg

Re: Diesel leaking pipe

Looks like it should have crush washers. May explain why you are taking in air

Re: Diesel leaking pipe

Thanks Fellas. I'll have to see if I can get hold of a Pump diagram somewhere.

Re: Diesel leaking pipe

Found this site is good for parts/diagrams. https://injectionpumps.co.uk/  Just got to find a part number on my pump! From what I can work out looking at Banjo Bolts on there it doesn't look like there are any crush washers for them.

Re: Diesel leaking pipe

I see what you mean hmm  Just been Looking at the pics of mine on page 1 on this thread before I removed it & it I can't see one on it so I'm guessing it was missing and not that I lost it when I removed it. Do we have the same pump? I can't see a number on mine.

Re: Diesel leaking pipe

Just take the bolt back out if you dont know the size and try halfords or the likes. Also if same diameter as the brake banjo try a motorbike shop. You get mild steel as well as copper type.

Re: Diesel leaking pipe

Thanks mate. Would the washer that fits beneath the banjo be the same as the one I have on the top for reference?

Re: Diesel leaking pipe

Really struggling with this. Have ordered a couple more washers but I did find a mild steel one and just tried it for now. There is no leaks but it still feels loose. Not the banjo bolt but what ever the bolt screws into still turns. It's looks like some kind of liner and this has movement. Not sure if the 'liner' is screwed in or what. If anyone has a knackered or spare pump sitting around and could  just take a look to see how that 'liner' is fitted and if there's any way to tighten it I'd be very grateful.

I'm getting Confused the hard steel line to the injector from the pump will have a Brake pipe type of flare fitting at each end..........

The original photo  and the hard plastic pipe I mistook for having the issue when I first looked at it ........
Which is now what I take we are talking about.......

To me Clearly has a washer on the Banjo feed bolt ....... In answer to the question "Yes Both copper washers will be identical as is the Norm.........They should as Casper says be available at a motor factors (Spares) and various sizes will be available for varying sizes of Banjo's ETC........
If re-using a copper washer for this or a sump plug Etc..........
Your meant to heat them and anneal them for re-use.........

I'm really unsure what's meant by feels loose..............
the Banjo bolt being hollow by it's very nature and design should be a snug tight as you can't apply a dramatic amount of torque to it without breaking.....

The fact you say it's not leaking sounds in the right tightness area but if fittment is loose and it can't tighten any more it sounds like it being screwed in so far and the bolt has nowhere left to go.........
What Kind of liner do you mean ......... can you show a photo .......... or has someone repaired damaged thread by using a Helicoil and it's slackened off when removing Banjo bolt ?

Sorry I'm getting lost in translation

Liner?????

Its just a hole with a thread. If spinning the thread is Fu**e* or had a helicoil and that is just as Fooked. Looking at the picture it does not look like a helicoil so if banjo is not tightening after two new crush washers are inserted then i would suggest swapping the pump. As well as keeping fuel in you want to keep air (Thinner) out.

Re: Diesel leaking pipe

Thanks for your reply Vaz. If you look at the last photo I uploaded you'll see the banjo removed. In the pump is a threaded Collar/sleeve? Sorry I don't know what it's called. The bolt goes through the banjo and into this. This threaded 'sleeve' inside the Pump feels loose. When I tighten the bolt through the banjo into it the bolt is tight but the collar/sleeve still has movement/play. I am wondering how that threaded part inside the pump is fitted.
Sorry Vaz, I don't know the technical terms but hopefully that makes more sense?  hmm

Re: Diesel leaking pipe

Its not a hole with a thread as it turns and I am able to tighten it a little with my finger.

Re: Diesel leaking pipe

Ok that hole (Arrowed) has threads that your banjo bolt screws into. Washer, banjo, washer, banjo bolt. If it does not tighten its one of two things. Fucked threads or its been helicoiled by a previous cowboy and its worked loose. You said the bolt is moving  more than once so something is amiss. Option three is the thread on the banjo bolt is shot.

Re: Diesel leaking pipe

Well it's nice to be right for once cool  The threaded 'thing' is held in there by a T40 Torx bolt. Which I found when I drained all diesel out of the hole and shone a Torch into it. It was loose and so the whole thing was moving even when banjo union and bolt was tight in the thread. All sorted now. Thankfully I don't need a new pump (yet!)
2 new washers ordered.  smile

Well done you >.... I never knew that was on this pump .......... Any time and Mostly the pumps I entered into in days past were Bosch and I'd have a large Map (Directions) in front of me to guide me in what I was doing.............. But my Ar** ........ eh Backside was still chewing ginger snaps..............
I'd always taken the banjo feed screwed into on any pump to be part of the body/casting.........
Just shows you do Learn something every day.........

A T40 sounds over kill and I'd never have guessed to try or that a T 40 bit would have fitted down there .......But if that's what they've used........

So this old dog will have to Learn New tricks after all ............... {Maybe}

Hi Vaz, Yes i'm pleased it's sorted. Went to sleep(didn't get much) thinking I might need a new pump! In the pic I uploaded you can actually just make out the torx outline.

Re: Diesel leaking pipe

I think 4mm. If wet the rubber under the breaded bit may be split. If you have enough to play with try cutting 4/5mm off the end and pop back on
