In nine years of ownership, I have never figured out how to get the jack out from under the driver's seat. Seems daft, but it's true.
Can anyone tell me how it's done please?

Currently fitting ford galaxy seats so everything you need is in plain view.Sorry about the big pictures,can't seem to resize them.
Just lower the jack and remove towards the front of the van.

I never knew it sat under the seat. Mine in my last van lived in the air vent down the back N/S wheel arch. This van came with a trolley jack so that is bungee strapped under the passenger seats

I've had my van 5 or 6 years and never any idea or knew it once lived under seat {and I'v Had both seats out} either ......
{actually wondered if a chinese diesel heater would fit in there}
Jack's in a lovely blue fabric draw string jack bag under the bed in the area that Casper speaks of (vent) ..........
{Along with the wheel bolts kept after fitting lockers}

Cut along story short............
N/S front tyre blow out and I spent about an hour looking for the jack and then phoning cavalry and waiting for rescue only for it to be in the spare wheel when they dropped it from under car............

Don't think a how to is really needed Vaz,the seats are just bolted to the vans standard seat brackets.I removed the 14mm spacers (pictured sitting on the drivers seat)from under the drivers bracket to lower the seat.Also notched into the front bracket rail to alter the tilt of the seat to help my wee short legs reach the pedals.The hand brake fixing bracket also had to be removed and welded 14mm higher
Probably not the best choice of swivel seats for the van.The large swivel plate causes the seats to sit higher than the standard seats.The seats only rotate outward,they can be made to rotate inward by cutting a bracket on the swivel plate.The bracket is however part of the seat belt safety mechanism.I left it in place.
The passenger seat turns easily,however the drivers seat will not turn with the hand brake lever pulled up.

Excellent : As I'd said I was convinced the option of Ford Galaxy seats was for later Gen vans.........
What I read was :~ "NOT Straight swop but light modification"......

Another option {if not perfect -What is} of single swivel seat and I'd assume VW Sharan & Seat Alhambra's of same age and ilk would do also..........

Mine has always sat in the metal basket under the passenger seats.

Now I have no excuse to avoid the next job which is to try and get the spare wheel cradle working and de-rusted...it looks like it's been lying at the bottom of the sea for many years. Kind of fortunate that I've never had a puncture in Brenda....explosions, clouds of steam, coolant all over the road, yep...all of them....but no puncture.

On a related note - Does anyone have any recommended jack/axle-stand points which are NOT the sill ones?

Yea I avoid the sills.
Front - on the wishbones/subframe., usually choose a nice big bolt
On the rear, the towbar or right under the springs
