This is my Latest project To try and (Failing) to stay sane
Hope Everybody is well and surviving the Pandemic .............
As To a question asked of me and I answered a little while ago............"It's not the Lazing about that's an issue............. it's the Mental Health ... That I have an idea and............ NO YOUR NOT ALLOWED".........
I'd heard about this Hack previously .........
So I dig out our 19 inch Telly and I did think " Buy one out Pawn Shop with a DVD Built in ......but it's closed............ (I've got a player kicking about somewhere).........
(I think my Partner got this Free when She took out a Sk* subscription)..........
I removed the back Cover to and find what I was looking for..........
Hey-Presto:~
That little empty square socket..........{At end of Screwdriver}
In my case With a magnifying glass .... With luck you should see next to it on the board something like 12v upgrade or the likes..........
I thought I'd recognised the fitting so went on the hunt..............
The plug is a "Micro PH 2.0mm JST 2-Pin Male Connector" as I discovered
(I ended up ordering 5 on eB** as that was minimum cheapest I could get)
I now unplugged the Mains Power plug from board ...............
Got a 12v Motorcycle battery that's off Partners wee bike ..... wired it up then and tested TV to see if it would blow up or work..................
Result !
I then dig out an old Phone charger...............
Cut off the end and trim back wires (No going back now) .........
And solder it to pigtail plug Etc..........
Some heat shrink and a bit of tape later
Although I'm still to try it out on van..........
I have a Mag mount aerial (of dubious digital reception) from previous............
Two things............
In time for easing of Lockdown..............
1. Find a space .... with luck Fit a swing out wall mount
2.As I've fitted Mifi (Internet Data hotspot) to van..........
I thought try out a Roku or the Amazon Fire TV stick we've got............
Offline
Must look for one in mine as i was gifted a Tesco branded 10". Had it in the van once but never bothered again as it was not 12v and to tight to pay the extra for one.

Dont have the little connector

Dont have the little connector
On learning about this it seams that the type of TV that we've got ........
On going up to something like a 24" screen approx .......
The TV's reduce the 240V to 12v to power within TV allegedly (Not 100% sure but apparently any larger TV (Than possably a 24")... A 12v feed doesn't have enough oomph)
But It's also possable that some of these TV's have the power reduced externaly ..........
I.E. A Caravan Type TV and that some come with two power leads and cost significantly more..............
so if you have plug that goes into TV like.......
Maybe all you have to do is get an appropriate sized "Barrel Jack fitting lead and apply the correct DC feed to it (5 or 12v) after checking transformer output" ..........

Very good VAZ.
Maybe something like this adjustable voltage transformer to get the correct voltage.

After aswering Casper it got me thinking (A Dangerous Activity ?) .........
Hasn't been used in a good while So probably wants a massive update (Or is a Brick) ............
I hunted out an old Android TV Box ("Thinking" Not So long ago) when Hookie Apps and Kodi were the thing ....................
Look at the Power Supply.........
Next on the agenda would seem to be ... See if TV box is viable and if a USB cable and Barrel jack Do the Biz for Power ..........
And could be another option ............
In the Past we've taken Laptop For watching films ETC (I've a Large ish exterior sucker mount on side of van Aerial for drawing in a wifi signal) and we will take iPad or tablet with us but It's either a Faf to set up or it's a kind of personal coice activity and will tend to pi** off one or the other at some point............
Hopefully a working TV will be a case it's self contained in van and after the (heated) debate it's down to watch together and little out of the way extra effort .............
(For a one night stop over)
