Do you need that back bench thats folded down, how many kids do you have? If you dont need the back seating area to make the bed i see lots of wasted space where you could get the battery in and have better storage space.
BTW like the awning. Looking for one myself on the cheap. How do you attach that to the van and what about the wind from under the van?

yes do need it unfortunately - I have 6 kids. The driveway awning has a groundsheet that loops up the side of the bus and prevent the wind getting under (well not 100% but good enough). This is the driveway awning - https://youtu.be/8TMt8hKJLcs
We connected to the van using throw over guy ropes - not the best solution really but worked ok. Looking to do something a bit more permanent for this year using kador strips or similar.

We are foster carers - we adopted two of the little ones we had fostered for two years. Still had four of our own though so your point is still relevant!
I thought the same about the poles but my god they are bloody amazing - they are like concrete when full inflated and we had THE worst storm I have ever experienced last year on holiday in Cornwall and the tent never flinched. Very impressed.
