Leaking gasket..

Hello Im new to the forum today. ive been struggling on my own for ages with various bits and pieces on my citroen dispatch 1.9d 06. Can anyone point me to best step by step photo guide of replacing rocker gaskets? I have a leak close to vacuum pump. Van is idling badly too so might be vacuum pump prob too. I found out that Haynes manual doesnt do one for us, so what would you recommend? Ive turned my van into a part time camper and really love it. With a side awning for kitchen its an ideal set up. ive put 2 wooden beams across van to support a bed deck so space isnt compromised below. I can put up pics if anyone is interested. Looking forward to trawling through all this relevant information!! Cheers for now. smile

Re: Leaking gasket..

I just had a look through my workshop manual but unfortunately it doesn't cover the DW8 1.9D engine

Re: Leaking gasket..

Talking off the top of my head ...... I'll  use the downloadable manuals from the relevant section on the Forum here for reference and print a guide page if required ........
Also IIRC DW8's having a plastic rocker cover are notorious for various levels of oil leaking from them ...........

Was told this .....

Being plastic they over time and several heat cycles warp and have trouble sealing ..........
The seal becomes as hard as a Who*** HEART and no longer does the job .......

So is replaced and as the Rocker cover has warped and now tension has been released on removal its very difficult for most folk to rebuild and reseal properly........
And although this appears as a success to some degree at first .....

On finding a leak there further down the line usually means it gets tightened more and warping increases....
Hence does oil leak...........

This would Appear has happened to my van ........
What at first was reported as a small leak at MOT... then was disturbed and became a problem and dealt with............
Now it Appears resolved but rear of engine is covered in oil still and requires cleaning ............
Frighted to do anything including to 306's DW8 and start it all off again .............

(It's also an issue with other Engines that use Plastic  Rocker Covers and are getting to an age that it becoming a problem) ..............
{Include Diesel filter housings in that too infact  Most if all plastic fittings at an age will become hard and less flexable as they age and will likely fail......
Being Steriotypical......... The current wave of generic Chineese replacement parts.... Don't inspire}.....................

No real idea on poor idle or potential related vacum leak though ..........

Re: Leaking gasket..

Any one got any experience with replacement of both rocker cover gaskets?

So the top one is plastic and has a rubber seal ✅
Ordered a new gasket and a new plastic rocker cover ?

Is the aluminum part self explanatory once you get into it? Guessing that's an instant gasket jobbie. My main leak seems to be coming from the aluminum part rather than the plastic half ?
