Is This The Right Gearbox Plug To Refill Oil?

I need to change the gearbox oil in my 2.0 Jtd Scudo, 2004 vintage. Not sure where to put the oil in. Is the plug the same one in video for a peugeot partner under the nearside wheel arch? The action starts at 1.22 if you want to FF

If this is the right one, do I just fill to that level, or put the correct amount of oil in? Thanks for any advice.

Well, I've been doing some digging and didn't find a plug under the n/side arch as in video above - so please ignore.

I did remove the air filter box and found what I think are the breather (black plastic part) and the reverse switch. Well I'm certain about the switch, because I unplugged it and the reverse lights didn't work. Can anyone confirm if the black part is the breather - and if it's ok to slowly refill the gearbox oil through it with a funnel and length of 13mm tube? The second photo shows what I believe to be the breather with cap removed - which pulled off very easily.

Also, what is the best oil to use? Something from Fiat or just synthetic 75W80 gear oil? Believe capacity to be 1.85 litres.

Found this on a scudo forum. Seems to sugest filling through breather is ok.

All drained and refilled today. Old oil was quite murky and definitely a lot darker than the 1.85 litres of fresh Millers TRX 75W80 that went in. The old oil was approx 200 ml less than should have been in there. Also relieved to see hardly any metal flakes on the magnetic part of the drain plug.

Drain plug comes out with 8mm square drain plug socket. Put the new oil in through breather on top of gearbox - see black plastic cap in above photos. Length of 13mm OD pvc tube and small funnel and patience to slowly pour the oil in. Warm day so flowed quite well - on cold day may help to warm the bottle of oil.

Hope this helps anyone with one of these vans who needs to change their gearbox oil.

filled my box up a few days back. used 2L of oil as the box was totally drained as it was removed from the van, tipped upside down, on its end, everywhere. so all the oil came out. when i refit it something told me to undo the drain plug again so i did and another good 200mls came out. >_<

To be honest there wasn't really a problem with gearbox. First reason I changed it was because I wanted to see how much was in there as it could have been low for some reason as the box hasn't been touched since I got the van. Second reason was I thought that 16 years and 100,000 miles on the same oil was enough and time for a change. Not sure if I'll be able to feel any difference.

Also, I haven't driven it yet, as did the job yesterday afternoon then went to family BBQ in evening. Had a bit too much! neutral

Lucky you got that last bit of oil out, John. Suppose it can force past seals if too much sloshing around in there.
