Hi everyone thought i’d post after a extensive part bash and maintenance on my dispatch 1.6 i’ve been through everything and still had a bit black smoke from the tail pipe under load so after much work and digging i spoke to a specialist and was advised that my injectors have 2 with 1 code and 2 with a different code
now to the point i’ve been quoted a price for 2 new injectors and labour but the mechanic told me which ones were correct so i’d like to know if anyone can double verify there injector code for my model (mk2) 1.6hdi
just want to double check before i order new ones as i can do it myself for a fraction of the price once i can confirm this information from a secondary source.
also does anyone know if they need coded to the vehicle as i’m under the impression that they don’t and can be fitted and used as per part number for this model.
thanks in advance everyone
hopefully i can say bye to the dreaded black smoke after this

Hi, when you say "code" do you mean a single digit stamped on the injector?

Hi dispatcher, I've replaced all 4 injectors on my van. Will see if I can find the invoice for them which will hopefully give me the lart number.
I used pf jones, theres a website but if the call the stoke on trent branch they'll be able to tell you, they used to be called potteries diesels. Specialists in diesel engines, mine were about £100 each.
I can confirm that they are not coded to the vehicle.

Just located my invoice, they were £85 plus the VAT for service exchange.

Hi thanks for the reply’s guys
The codes i have on my van are as follows
2 incorrect injectors are 0445110259 which to my knowledge are for the 2.2-2.5 90kw 110hp models
2 correct injectors are 0445110239 which are for the 1.6hdi is which are for the 66w 90hp models
i just wanted to verify that the correct ones are definatly the right ones as i’ve been informed they are and checked online, will look to see if information on the haynes when i get hold of it tonight but wanted to see what everyone else may be running to double check before i order so to make sure i get it 100% correct.
i’ve been through so much fault finding and can’t believe i didn’t see the number 5 and 3 being different on the codes i only missed this as can only read the number by reading in 2 parts with components in the way and at first i thought they were all the same at least this will explain the black smoke under load. can’t wait to fit them think this is the answer to everything. thanks for your reply’s guys every bit of help is appreciated

I was lucky when I did mine, had to do all 4 though, as my brother is a mechanic so just borrowed all his tools and gave him a shout when I needed to.
Ended up changing the air intake manifold as well, as it was well shot.
Be good to get a guide up for others who may need to do the same job.

That’s ideal , would save you a few £££’s. yes i think i will if it helps people. I’m going to take my intake manifold off and give it a good clean soon too. just done the pass on egr and seems a bit nicer to drive which is also a bonus. i’ll keep the updates coming in once the parts arrive.

So these are Bosch injectors with 9 digit calibration codes - as you say they might not needed to be coded to the ECU, but the only way you will know is by hooking up diagbox.
Also, on my 2015 at least, there is an option for re-setting the pilot injection learning. This is used to learn the optimum pilot injection levels to avoid knocking.
Might not be needed on yours, and the settings may not make make much of a difference.

Hi thanks tee cee
I’ve spoken to someone locally who does injector coding and has said if i fit them and see how it is running then if any issues bring it down for coding and he will do 2 injectors for £27 so that’s the worst case scenario which is ideal just received my seals today just waiting on the injectors and washer puller then i’m good to go just doing a few other jobs while i await the post man i’ve got a few things lined up, keep myself busy while i’m off work

ok so thought i’d update with a slight query, today i received my injectors so decided i’d get my tools out managed to do the 2 wrong injectors which was fairly easy. meanwhile i looked at the other injectors and 1 was caked in crap from a leaking seal and the other was slightly weeping. I pushed on and tried to remove the last 2 injectors boy they where a pain in the *** so i it took me a good couple of hours to get them out however i came to the final injector and i had a slight issue the injector was so stuck it pulled out the injector sleeve why oh why lol. so now i want to remove the sleeve from injector and yes it doesn’t want to budge. any ideas? think i will leave it soaking over night but that’s all i can think, at this point i didn’t want to use heat but if anyone else has done this before i’m assuming it will just slide back into the hole, stop me please if my assumptions are wrong lol, i’ll put a picture up and i’ve also taken lots of pictures to create a thread to help others who want to change there injectors too
