Water/engine heater

Since I live in Norway, where it's pretty cold in the winter, I plan to install an engine heater. Can anybody inform me about the internal diameter of the lower radiator hose on the DW8B?

Don't want you to feel ignored Joe but I don't have that measurement to hand.

I wonder if you can find the hose listed somewhere it might mention in the spec?

Quickest way of course is to disconnect and measure... you first. ☺

Well I've tried to search every place that sell these hoses, and not a single one of them list the measures. Could of course take it off an measure it, but these heaters is to be placed vertically, and the hose is not the same diameter at the ends as it is in the middle... I could measure the outside diameter and calculate the inner, but then I would have to know the wall thickness... wich I dont.

I was going to suggest removing hose and using something like a digital caliper but on the section of radiator the rubber hose connects to...........
I Dear say you could try this at other end of hose if it's vertical ..............

I was trying to think of gaining a Measurement that was from a hard surface rather than deformable

That might work... The heater has be in a vertical part of the hose, so I will have to place it where the hose goes up in the back of the engine. I could of course just cut it, and take my other car to pick up a heater... smile

That helps, Ken. I've marked where the heater goes. A bit difficult to see from the picture the thickness at that spot... guessing 36mm from the description that says 16-36mm?

Does that part include the rubber bit, the two bends, and the thin pipe branching off?

Asking me? If you buy the lower hose, it includes all those parts. As for the heater, there are two different types. One that goes on the thin hose up to the oil cooler, an one for the bigger hose up behind the engine. Not sure which is the best, though.

Here is a picture on how the original heater connects to the engine.

For cars that have a timer the heater also have an electric pump and it connects inline with the supply line to the cab, they also force the cab fan on by a relay.

ahh yes, the supplementary 5kw diesel powered coolant heater. this is something i plan on installing to my van. i already have the Chinese diesel powered air heater. however i really want the diesel powered coolant heater.

i have a few Webasto Thermotop heaters.. my brother and i played with them a while back. i even turned one into a camper van "central heating" system which also heated the water for the sink and shower via a thermal store and plate heat exchanger. ill be building another one of these for our Iveco Daily camper conversion. sadly the Dispatch i have is just not big enough. .... or is it... hmmm....

well whatever. i will still be adding it to the van for those cold winter mornings.

i have but a question, where is the supplementary heater installed on these vans? as far as space goes the only places i have found is where the horn is located un the front wing, or under the floor right next to the CAT converter. the one i have i think i will be installing next to the cat converter, tapping into the heater matrix piping. i will also have the thing ran from a different fuel tank so i can run it on the cheaper red diesel or home heating oil/kerosene.

ill make a thread on how to fit it when i get around to it!

The UK version C8's and 807's all had webastos fitted apparently.
