dispatch battery 1.9 2009

Hi ive had start up issues, never related it to battery, as its new 2 month old. Had mobile auto out to find fault. he started up strait away, says battery not enough power. Im a window cleaner so drive to place of work. park up. 30 mins later ill move on to park up again. daily local. Any suggestions regarding battery issue in my situation. Any heavy duty batteries that i would be better off . this is the first time the van has gone like this in 8 years in the same daily routine.
ive just had it out for a drive and leave engine running to see if it will start up in morning

Are you sure it's charging properly? And if it is, is it holding charge?
If you have a multi meter, check volts at the battery with the engine running. If it is charging properly, check if it's it's loosing power overnight. Even a new battery can fail.

If there is a fault, a bigger battery might give you a few more starts but wouldn't resolve it.

As O A T says check charging out and for Parasitic Drain............
I've put a new Battery in my van and battery arrived with IMHO a dangerosly low charge and wouldnt start van ......
So I stole an old battery out of an old diesel golf I have and hey presto.......

In doing this battery change I discovered that Van is listed as having two options of Battery ..........
The smaller of the 2 had been fitted, I bought the 096 larger version ... Same as fitted to my old Golf

Funny thing I noticed Our 306 with a DW8 fitted is of an intermediate size ..........
Must be a packaging/Cost thing..........

I swapped out my 75Ah battery for a 45Ah one so I could squeeze my leisure battery alongside, never had an issue

Yes you are correct and you can obviously use a lesser battery ...........
But batteries are less efficient the colder it gets as you most likely know and it's the Amp hr and Cold Cranking Amps that determine the ability of application and how long a battery will wind on the starter for.................

CCA varies even on equivalent sized batteries and I dear say manufacturers will spec what they consider is needed for worst case scenario.......

Not to mention/take into account.....Age related foibles of vehicle or battery ...............

Now that is a good idea to save space from having to have the leisure battery in the back of the van.

So you have the leisure battery and a smaller battery under the bonnet - in the battery compartment? No issues with them them kenbw2?

Have a look at tee-cee's previous Camper Van build...........
He managed a re-route of washer bottle filler and the installation of a leisure battery on the Drivers side of the mk1 van in the engine bay......

That or rewire a universal bottle in. I was thinking can the air filter be removed for a smaller neater K&N for more battery space if sticking a leisure in. Or can the gel ones be mounted sideways as if keeping the double seat there is a lot of wasted space under there. I keep a trolley jack under mine but im not a camper.
