Split Charge Kit Recommendations?

As title. Does anyone have a recommendation for a split charge system/kit preferably with links or sources?

Cheers

Re: Split Charge Kit Recommendations?

Basic lights, music, water pimp and the off usb charging in the back then this is all your need

Oh i also run a 12v coolbox in the back when driving and it copes well.

Re: Split Charge Kit Recommendations?

Adding a fridge, charger for when on hookup, inverter, solar and a bank of leisure batterys then you may want to look at something stronger

@casper

Nice one on that professional link as I am expecting a 70 amp cable one tomorrow - I'll send that back to get the 110 amp one as its the same price anyway.

For roughly the same price I may aswell have the 110 amp cable. It shouldn't do any harm to my 115 ah leisure battery eh?

Cheers for the link.

Ah I bought the same battery from a place that delivered for £106.

Do you know where that link on here was for future road trips casper?

Re: Split Charge Kit Recommendations?

I don't think so.

I recall seeing it but forgot to message myself into it. It was about arranging future meet ups across the UK - and that a list was to be made of people interested or something.

Anyway if you come across it then link me it please.

Once my van has been done up then I'll be up for that.

Here's a list of what I plan to get to do my van up...I opted for the Dodo stuff as I feel you pay for superior quality (not sure if you will be able to see my cart list):

https://www.deadening.co.uk/cart

If you can see it, what do you think?

Re: Split Charge Kit Recommendations?

Cant see your cart but if thinking of getting that sound defining foam (10mm) i got two rolls from China cheaper than 10mm stuff in the UK. It was close cell stuff also what was good if any condensation around.

I like the fact its made with High Grade Butyl Construction and the liner in the Medium van kit is:

What do you think?

Can you link me your China defining foam please?

Re: Split Charge Kit Recommendations?

Durite.jpglaptop tastatur

The red LED is situated in the wrong place and not where the LED display is. Also the unit does not click off when the engine is turned off (engine was at 12.4 - below 12.65 as stated). We have switched the cables around in the unit and still has the same result. Any suggestions on how to fix this?

Also any other decent split relay brands to consider?

Cheers

Re: Split Charge Kit Recommendations?

Before you blame the relay, have you tried charging the battery off the van to confirm that it is capable of taking and holding a full charge?

I have always just used off the shelf generic relays myself, usualy from truck garages.

My current van has a branded one fitted but I havn't noticed any advantage.

Is there any?

I know you can get advanced charging/monitoring/management controlers with b to b charging and set priorities etc, but the cheaper, simpler ones just look like a relay in a branded enclosure.  Do they do anything more than a simple relay?

Re: Split Charge Kit Recommendations?

Ideally an reputable brand would give an idea of decent quality (like with all products) .... in this case, a simple relay that works at least.

I've seen someone suggest that switching the headlights on for few seconds will get the relay to click off. It's not a great thing to have the relay on when starting the van since you will be drawing a large starting current down the leisure battery cable and through the relay - never mind draining your van battery.
It looks like the internal circuit board has been installed 180 deg - you would hope that they marked the red (main battery) terminal correctly, it should be next to the ground wire.

Personally I just use a £2 40A 12V relay, and trigger it via an add-a-circuit fuse breakout connected to the "engine running" relay output which feeds the blower motor etc.

Re: Split Charge Kit Recommendations?

ok cheers for the information. I just hope the company can send out a replacement unit rather having me return all the item (half of which is installed in the van!).

Yea I never understand the need for these £60 60 amp relays. I wish my battery would charge anywhere near 60A!
