Re: door lock replacement key

I had this on one of mine, I actually found a newly cut key from Timpsons worked just nicely. Maybe give that a go first?

Re: door lock replacement key

If its the whole lock and not just the little round key hole section then pull it out of you can as the spring pin may be old and rusting on the inside. Sometimes pulling them out a tad helps and then again the plastic guide slot may be worn also then its a new handle. You can see the spring pin on the side of this lock set

No but they look identical to what is in my van as the passenger door one sometimes comes out with the key (Worn handle housing) Mine have also been changed at some point as i have different keys for locks and ignition.

Anyone have experience with after market barrels? Did they work OK after replacing them?

I had to buy some aftermarket ones for our Scudo, as the original door locks kept spinning internally and wouldn't always lock or unlock. Bit fiddly but easy enough once you've done one, be especially careful as you need to drill a rivet out on the right rear door handle first before removing it.

They have worked fine ever since, well until some local scum bags tried smashing the locks in with a screwdriver ? So ordering another set now, an doing the job again!

Re: door lock replacement key

I replaced the two side door barrels, I was going to replace all five door locks but the set I bought on eBay were all different and there were only two that the keys supplied fitted! Got my money back and will be ordering a new set.

The replacement is quite a straight forward job, just take a pic on your phone how the mechanism bars etc are orientated first.

The price is around £16 to £20 for a set of 5 plus 2 keys I think.

The two I did replace work fine and positive locking)
