1999 Fiat Scudo 1.9D (BULKHEAD)

Hello All,

Before we start thank you for reading the following post.

I have just purchased a van (my first one) and upon research discovered this treasure chest!!

The Van I have just purchased is a V Registration 1999 fiat scudo. I collected it last night and it got me home no bother from the 100 miles I travelled to collect it. Although it certainly will not win any sprints it certainly will win the marathon every time  big_smile .

The Van does not have a bulkhead and I would love to get one to go in it, what is the situation with finding these? will something out of a similar age dispatch/expert fit into the scudo? or do any of you know if there is anything on the market that would install easily and or will it be something that I have to custom retrofit to it? and obviously, the final question, if it is the retrofit option does anyone know of any templates to help?

I apologize for my ramblings, I am new to the van world and in desperate need of help

Thanks in advance

Andy

Re: 1999 Fiat Scudo 1.9D (BULKHEAD)

If yer a short arse you will be fine. I am 6'2" and found (In my last Expert) i could not get the seat back far enough with the bulkhead so took it out. They do still come up on ebay but make sure its from the early models what i think is up to 2007 but double check. Ideally you also want all the fixing bolts so probably better looking in scrap yards. There is also cage versions i have seen and one that just covers the drivers seat. My present van (Dispatch)has a wooden one built in what is great as the previous owner who built it was the same height as me so fits well. I need it this time as its a works van rather than mini camper so my tools tend to get left in overnight.

So it's a preference thing, Thanks for the help I will check out a few scrap dealers and see if I can get one, I think however I will probably end up building one myself from wood. smile

Yes its not a necessity. Most who have built mini campers have took them out and the little 10" one you see at the floor. I do prefer this wooden one as it does not rattle but having said that you can run a few strips of flash banding over it.

Only thing with this home made one he made a large slant for the seat to go back but i only put a lawnmower in and out this door so im fine with that

And you can see its a not bad fit

Re: 1999 Fiat Scudo 1.9D (BULKHEAD)

I bought a metal one from Van Guard years ago. Like Casper I'm quite tall (6' 4") and found the seat wouldn't go back far enough with it fitted. So I unbolted the top edge of the bulkhead and leant it towards the rear a bit and filled the gap where it bolts along the top edge with a strip of timber. Seat goes back enough for my lanky frame now.

Re: 1999 Fiat Scudo 1.9D (BULKHEAD)

thank you so much for your replies, I really appreciate it, I might do an exact copy of yours! I am going to save that picture so I have something to work with, Bit cheeky I know but could you put a couple of pictures up of the cab side so I can see what you have done there??

Also, there are a couple of extra seats in the back mine that I want to sell is it something I can put on here in the other area of the forum, or is that sort of thing outlawed on here?

Best Wishes
Andy

Aye there is a parts section on the main page where you can sell stuff. Just remember price and location and probably a wee photo will help  lol

Pics

You can see there is stud work. The right post is going up to the ceiling. That is in the middle.

Behind drivers seat you can see the stud work is just bolted with small L shaped brackets to lower steel bulkhead. Facing you is the angled wood you see in the picture with the bike in the van. Cant see for sure how that is attached but again if you look at the shot with the bike you see there is wood attached to the B Pillar so probably attached with strips of wood to the other bit and the sheet covering the load area.

You can see a bolt low down but no obvious way to see how that was put in

Half way up he has some white laminated ply to cheer it up a bit

And a thinner sheet to go with the roof curve
