Re: I can see the clutch cable moving!!!

Where abouts do you see the movement, outside or in?  Just had a look at mine (98TD) and I couldn't see where the cable went through.  Didn't have a torch but couldn't even feel it.

I wouldn't be surprised to see a couple of mm play at the end of the outer though.

If it's the same as mine, they have quite a conplex self adjusting mechanism which can cause intermitent and/or erratic faults when it fails.  Mine sometimes lost all tension as if snapped but with gentle pumping could be persuaded to bite again, until the next time.  At other times it seemed to loose grip and then grab again half way through travel which gave it a harsh feel.  I remember it was a ridiculously expensive cable to replace.

Hi, Thank you for looking.

Pedal box, as the cable goes through the floor. it's as if the cable is the slack!!!

I will take pic's tomorrow.

Re: I can see the clutch cable moving!!!

I had my clutch cable replaced about 2 years ago so I suppose is reasonably fresh

Re: I can see the clutch cable moving!!!

My van is hydraulic ........ But our 306 which is also DW8 powered has a cable clutch and has a very heavy feel .....................
But the release bearing fork arm has plastic bearings that it pivots on and they have quite a bit of wear on them ...........
Every now and then it goes light ..............
But can't say it's same thing a OAT..........
Or outer cable is slack as Ive never looked..............

It has done over 212,000mls I've Had it at least 10 / 11 yrs and done a spit over 100,000mls in it ........
But never fitted a clutch to it
