dispatch 1.6 HDI limp mode,, need help

hi first time posting--bought this van last year only driven for 15 mins, then went into limp mode, so I changed (wait for it) new EGR, TURBO, injector seals kit, driven for 20 mins then 1 injector was knocking so had to get new injector studs & nut kit + injector seals, then van starter was just clicking so I bought a new starter motor and new battery and fitted another wiring harness, still just clicking and non-start, now this is what my diagbox is saying, sorry about the long story sad  sad  sad Screenshot-2.pngScreenshot-1.pngScreenshot-4.pngScreenshot-3.png

Re: dispatch 1.6 HDI limp mode,, need help

Hi Crimbo and welcome.

Is this the 1.6 hdi from the mk3 (2007 to 2015)?

I too had quite a few issues with my 1.6hdi, the most recent been the bsi unit in the engine bay on the off side. It had always had a few electrical faults show up but nothing to stop the van from running. Then one day it started and ran for a few seconds the cut out, but then wouldn't restart. Plugged a snap on code reader in and got a few faults as normal but also now had a fuel regulator issue amongst others.

Short version is I tried a few cheaper items first such as fuel pump solenoid and fuel filter, but ended up been the bsi unit in the engine bay. Once I'd fitted that, all my other electrical faults also disappeared.

Not at cheap fix and best part of £300 for the part from the dealer though.

Re: dispatch 1.6 HDI limp mode,, need help

As Anchor1979 says could be BSI as with 3 readings 3 diffrent read outs ..........
However there is one perminant and thats turbo pressure..........
When I had the 307 2.0L HDI one of it's irks was boost............
It had a VVT [Variable Vane Turbo] and the Vanes would stick due to rust or being gummed up and not regulate the boost..........
I changed vacum actuators ETC to no avail along with various other issues and after it was gone I was told .......
Fill the VVT exhaust housing with oven cleaner and leave it for 2 ...3 hours to do it's thing before cleaning out the stuff .........

It's like being blindfolded and pinning the tail on the Donkey ..........
Giving a prognosis ....
You could well have more than one issue .........
And we're not even close.............

Old adage....
A Diesel needs 3 things to Run .........
"Compression" .......
"Fuel" .......
"Air" ...........
Put a computor in charge it needs 103 things

Petrols are much the same with a spark though

Sorry not being particularly helpful

Was it a used one? I was tempted but decided to go with a new one due to the number of different models and potentially having issues.

Have you checked you've got fuel going to the injectors?

I ended up getting one from ebay if I remember correctly,  solenoid that is, as peugeot don't sell just the solenoid.

No worries Crimbo, from memory was a little pain in the arse to replace. At one point I thought it may need the entire pump, which I think was about £300 mark from a local company called pf Jones.

Good luck and fingers crossed it solves it.
