Hey Will,
I wanted to avoid drilling through the floor at all - so glued a bundle of battens to it (added insulation on top) and then drilled / screwed into those instead.
Dead easy. Did the same with the ceiling.

Is it not generally cheaper to insure as a camper?
Absolutely bonkers Vaz .. was watching the RABT traffic cams today and saw it was turning white - but that's a proper covering!
Hope you got wherever you were going
It looks like it maybe was a minibus - but had no seats in the back - was just full of stuff!
True of many of the finest and oddest vans
Aaargh!
Knew these existed but hadn't laid eyes on one in the flesh til walking home, late, along Sauchiehall Street in Glasgow.
Quite confusing ....

45mpg is a particularly handy mpg to have actually.
Since there are 4.5 litres in a gallon, you can work out your cost per mile by just moving the decimal point on the cost per litre.
So if you paid 97.9p per litre for your fuel - your cost per mile is 9.79p
Simples :-)
Yep I had an aerial leak after my local garage reversed the van out their place without enough clearance.
Had me stumped for ages as the water seemed to appear everywhere / anywhere at different times depending on how I was driving. Eventually worked it out!
Siliconed it up 3 years ago and no bother since.
Hi Dolomite - you can post / host pictures directly on the forum using the Uploads link underneath the Quick Reply form.
Once uploaded you can choose to insert the image full size or just as a thumbnail linking to the pic.
Yep I've spent a fair while browsing your story recently tee_cee!
Welcome and thanks for sharing!
Tempted by your sun shade ... did it all hold up ok?
Looking good Casper!
How's the window holding up?
That's really pretty impressive.
I get 45 mpg in the 2.0HDi on mostly towny miles .. probably pushes 50 on motorway.
Neither of these engines are what we'd call modern .. but not a bad return on the fuel I reckon.
Unter - we'd love to see your van! Bring on the photos!
As Casper says - just go for it - start a new thread or even just start posting them here.
Monkeynut - bloody hell mate. Glad to hear you're out of hospital and on the mend.
All the best from Glasgow
That's a great example Casper .. a good read.
Totally agree - insulate as much as possible. You'll thank yourself for it later!
One thing I'd say is try to use the recycled plastic loft insulation (rather than polystyrene sheet) for the second layer. It comes out like cotton wool so with some pointy, flexible implements, you can get this stuff into every crevice of the van.
Straps were glued to the floor, and the ply floor was screwed into those (with insulation in between) instead of drilling holes in the floor of the van.
Def not necessary - I was just being precious about the bodywork!
Hey Casper - this sounds interesting but I'm struggling to visualise what you've actually done.
Adding washers where I'm imagining would push the door further out from the body of the van - not bring it closer in.
No doubt I'm being stupid!
Casper, you're right, this forum is in need of an update. It's built on FluxBB. The developers of Flux are now developing Flarum which looks extremely promising.
They have also promised a migration route from Flux to Flarum which will make our lives much easier.
Flarum is currently in Alpha. As soon as it hits a stable Beta we'll be giving it a shot.
Um .. hmm .. I did the roof as well as pretty much everything else. It was nearly 3 years ago though so I can't remember how much I used I'm afraid!
I do remember going back for more though!
It comes in roles so the guy will just chop as much as you reckon you need.
I went for the cheap CarpetRite stuff: https://www.carpetright.co.uk/carpets/c … ain-carpet
Cheaper than the automotive stuff and still v flexible.
If it's any consolation - I went for a fairly dark charcoal carpet and the stuff just eats light!
Always reckon next time I'd go for something lighter
Now hosting this content directly on the site for anyone interested:
Oh well - might as well kick this off - don't like to see an empty forum!
I bought this on ebay as my drivers-side sliding door wouldn't open properly using the exterior handle.
Turned out that the problem was with the catch at the rear of the door. Not the handle mechanism.
So this is surplus to requirements!
Free for pickup in Glasgow or I can post it to UK addresses if you're happy to pay postage.
Borrowed this pic but will post photos of actual item later

New section Spare Parts added :-)
Yep good shout folks.
Obviously we can't move straight into being a fully functioning marketplace without jumping through various tedious hoops .. but I'm more than happy to open up a new section to highlight items wanted / required or for sale via other sites (ebay etc).
Sound like a plan?
