Jeezo - bad luck.

Can I ask how many miles the engine had done? Were there any signs of problems before it happened?

I guess you need to find out exactly what engine was in there first - the 2.0hdi is one of the DW10 engines I believe - but there are several variants of it I think. DW10ATED, DW10BTED, DW10CTED etc.

After that I guess ebay's a good place to start .. never had to buy an engine though!

Reception in my van was terrible too - thought I'd broken a circuit or something on the (relatively new) head unit. So replaced it. Same deal.

Eventually realised that if I had anything plugged into the lighter socket (which I almost always did) - even just a charger cable not attached to a device - the reception was useless - but if I unplugged it the receptions was perfect.

These any use? They seem to relate to the Scudo 2.0JTD which i think pretty much related to the 2.0HDI Citroen.

I'm afraid I've no idea if any of the EGR valve stuff mentioned is relevant in that case - obviously you still have one and something must control its use but no idea if a problem there would explain the symptoms.

Other thing that springs to mind is a vacuum leak - which can have some weird and unpredictable consequences I believe. And it might explain your whistling sound.

I'm guessing you might know more about engines than me (wouldn't be hard!)

My turbo went offline for an hour, randomly, on a long trip about 6 months ago. Only time I've ever seen the engine management light on. Hasn't happened since.

So I tried to find out what might cause such a thing and ended up reading this document relating to the 2.0hdi / 2.0jtd (dw10) engine :

I guess if you feel you can rule out the EGR valve itself and it's still misbehaving - it could be the EGR solenoid or one of the sensors that control its use:

- coolant temperature
- engine speed
- engine load (the position of the accelerator pedal)

Engine diagnostics might offer some help.

Glad to hear Radio's in!

I bought pretty cheap (£20 i think) 6.5" affairs from Halfords - which (predictably enough) I now want to replace.

However - worth noting that my front door panels rattle badly as soon as any sort of reasonable bass goes through them.

So my plan is to get a modest boxed sub and fit it in the void under the middle seat - then fit new half-decent 6.5" speakers in the doors, but cut off the bass going to them.

That's the plan at least.

For starters though, yeah standard speakers went in OK for me.
