#26 Re: Maintenance » Question about sliding door seal on 2004 1.9L Expert » 2020-06-21 15:52:59

Well what do you know! Having looked at my door I too am missing the door locator receptacle at the top on drivers side! Maybe why it isn’t as tight as the passenger side and leaks ever so slightly in heavy rain! Also thanks tee_cee for link to Caspers post. Very interesting, will have to look out for them there hooks!

I bought my van in late 2019 with the express purpose of using it in 2020 for many camping trips! Mind you, it seems a great van and I’m sure eventually normality will return and we will get away. Hopefully with some good weather!

Hey my stickers arrived! Many thanks, I wondered what was in the mysterious envelope!

I wonder if you could mount a flexible one on your roof box?

#30 Re: Camper Conversions » My very basic Stealth Van » 2020-03-15 22:17:49

I like it. It’s surprising how basic it can be. An awning would give you more space though but no longer stealthy!!

#31 Re: Maintenance » CAMBELT CHANGE » 2020-03-13 22:18:07

I too have had a timing belt failure (VW T4). Bent valves and head re-skimmed isn’t cheap so I’ve just had mine done for just over £250 (Including water pump). Worth every penny for peace of mind!

Not sure who it was on here that posted this link to somebody doing a camper conversion.

I saved the link as it’s quite an interesting read. As you say, not much room to play with!

#33 Re: General Discussion » Favourite Campsite(s)? » 2020-01-13 17:10:26

Well everyone makes very good points, thanks for the replies! Definitely want to see a bit of Scotland this year at least. Perhaps the answer for me is to do a bit of both ie, take the tent but be prepared to sleep in the van on other nights :)

Hi Oat
Based near Halifax, W Yorks. You’re right of course, much easier to sleep in the van, have a mate who does that all the time. He’s always in a forest up in the Lakes somewhere. I was just thinking of for little jaunts when I have to take my wife who worries about showers and toilets haha!

Well I know from reading this forum a lot of you camp in lay-bys etc and sleep in your vans, but does anybody use campsites? If so any recommendations? I have a tent and would like to take a couple of bicycles in the back of the van. Maybe at some future date I’ll try doing a camper conversion!

#36 Re: General Discussion » Paint Colour? » 2020-01-04 07:19:04

The barrier did look low. I actually drove in quite carefully, no problem. On the way out (same barrier) it just caught! Was in a water authority car park so no tarmac and an ever so slight slope, was most surprised! Like you it’s easy to get quite blasé about these things!

#37 Re: General Discussion » Paint Colour? » 2020-01-02 07:22:28

Okay many thanks. I’ll have another good search and if not some paint near enough will have to do. It’s on the roof after all!

Hello folks!
Well I’m new to this forum having recently purchased an Expert 1.9D from 2006. I think it’s a great van and a really friendly forum you have here! Anyway today (rather stupidly) I scratched the roof of my van on a lower than usual car park barrier. Ok it’s not visible but annoying nonetheless. I don’t seem to be able to find a paint code sticker. It’s a grey ex-WAV so maybe code is somewhere other than usual. Just wondered if anyone here has any ideas. Anyway happy new year to you all!
