Has that got the oval fuel filter housing like the 1.9D?? The aftermarket seals on top are renowned for being shit and letting in air. Also your return pipes, are any wet? The internal rubber can crack where it connects to the injectors and also let in air. To much air will prevent it from starting.

1960's? 150??

I bought two and a small winch for my Maxus van but they are only about 200kg each. As i can stand in my present van i just put two planks down and drive the bike up while walking on the other plank

I wanted a weekend toy but never wanted to go over 1500 quid. R1150GS's were coming up local but space shop milage. Couple of older RF900's then started to think, i dont need a big bike. Its now just a play thing so this came up local ish at 1400. Manage to get it for 1300 so quite chuffed. Probably new disks next year and a few nuts and bolts as some are looking shabby but that is about it.

Bought myself a Fazer600 a couple of weeks ago. Nice condition for its age. Strapped it down in the van and did the bugger not slide. Thank god it had engine bars and i just killed a mirror

Brilliant, I love dogs smile The bus is kinda cool too. I would of like a camper bus thing one day, but I dont have the license needed. Limited to max 3.5ton I believe?

Plenty vans and mini buses out there what are plated as 3.5T. Some are plated over at 3.8 or in my case 4.2T but that is not the actual weight. They need to compensate for 17 fat passengers and possibly a disabled lift in the back. You can get then down plated. You can try and do it yourself with DVLA but the norm is getting a company called SVTec to do the work for you. You get a weight bridge ticket and they do the rest for about £100.

This was my last bus what was plated at 3.85T. On the bridge it was only 2.2T converted.

Yeah i was parked up next to one at a bike rally in Holland. I was looking at it thinking just an extra foot in height would be enough  to make a cracking little camper

Do yourself a favour and buy once, from reputable supplier or at least make 100% sure it's what you need, ignore their "expertise"

TBF i have bought some Chinese so called crap over the years and the items has been waaayyyyyy better than the price would indicate

On the same breath i have bought cheap Chinese crap and its been just that.

You're among good company! I'm sure we're all a bit emotionally attached to our aged vans

I've had people ask me "would you keep the van if a repair cost more than it's worth?"

That ship sailed long ago. Actually I think that ship sailed the moment I bought it...

I may have not jumped ship so early Ken had we had the LWB in the UK. Yeah its only a foot but i would have went up also. I needed larger as my first Expert was a Micro camper and we started to take the dog with us (Rottie) I was going to build a camper out an LDV Pilot but it has an early Peugeot Non turbo engine. Vowed never to buy a Non turbo diesel again so went large with the Convoy.

Stuck around as my second van, the Dispatch was a work van but as my business started to take off i needed a larger van again so that jumped ship also to an LDV but the Maxus. Both are annoyingly lovable vans what can be money pits i must admit, but i think i am middle of the road in a financial way with my two LDV's. The Maxus i dont care about much as i just add any running costs to the customer big_smile

That looks bloody nice. I took my old 1.9D down the Black Forest Germany. If you see a hill make a run for it. In Belgium on motorways you can have long straight sections where you see hills ahead. I wound it up to FAF speeds passing all the trucks as sure as hell the buggers will get you on the hill. In Germany going over a small mountain i had to pull over to let a queue of cars past and an Oil tanker. Oh the shame but yeah. Moon and back rounds about right.  Where in South Wales are you? I was in Maesteg three days ago. It was no surprise to say it was pissing down.

#40 Re: Camper Conversions » Cable Conduit from Engine Bay to Cab? » 2024-09-14 00:28:23

Go down the engine bay bulkhead and under the van and back up through a hole in the sear floor. Seal/paint hole edges and use a grommet so the cable does not chaff.

#41 Re: General Discussion » Black plastic vent underneath » 2024-09-14 00:23:56

Dont some have a vent after the rear wheel to prevent ears popping when you shut the doors? My mate in Holland had a different van and if the last to close door got slammed you could hear the air get pushed out the door seals as the arse covered the vent over to help insulate the van.

Fingers crossed. Is it due to being Sub frame rather than Chassis that you cant weld or a fussy dick for an MOT man??? I can weld my Chassis if need be and thankfully 21 years on its still solid but when/if the time comes my hobby mig is coming out.

#46 Re: Maintenance » Speedo, Odometer & trip Meter Stopped Working. » 2024-08-05 01:18:02

If this happened when you pressed the trip reset button then would the issue not be a stuck press switch? Either your push button or the pressure pad on the clocks circuit board??

#47 Re: General Discussion » how much was your tax this year? » 2024-08-05 00:54:22

Thankfully i am self employed and can pass this charge on. 365 days in a year so no great drama trying to pass on under a quid a day. Just looked back and my 4.2Tonne 2400cc dirty diesel bus was only £309.75 if paid in full. Work van was the same price. Ill take that as the wifes car was only £20  big_smile  The three motors work out as £1.75 per day.

#48 Re: General Discussion » Speedometer Accuracy Issues on 1996 Scudo 1.9 TD » 2024-07-15 00:20:49

Speedo in any motor tends to read a tad  higher. I notice if doing 70mph i am actually doing 66mph. My bus (different motor) runs 14" wheels as standard and i put on 16" wheels and now when doing 70mph i am actually doing 74/5 so yeah, between a wrong profile tyre or smaller wheel your speedo will be out. I tend to use my sat nav for a speedo when out in the camperbus but thankfully Scotland has switched off all its speed cameras.

#49 Re: General Discussion » Random question on emissions » 2024-07-13 01:03:12

Just noticed two weeks ago that a previous owner has cut out the CAT on my bus and replace it with a bit pipe. That is three MOT's now with no emissions comments. Are you looking to get your van into a LEZ or just reduce your carbon footprint??

#50 Re: General Discussion » Any info on parking sensor wiring » 2024-06-21 10:52:03

Look for a junction box each sensor  plugs into. If you cant find one its probably an un finished job of a kit you can buy for the price of a few beers
