I'm seriously considering sealing up the OS door for various reasons how did you do yours?

I quickly went round the door seal with Sikaflex and ratchet strapped it tight shut and used more Sikaflex round the inside. Ratchet strap off when dry. I also disconnected the door locking/opening gubbings as i had no intention of going back.

#52 Re: Maintenance » Wind noise » 2024-06-20 17:00:54

When i had my Pug Expert the back doors would pop open now and then. The latch saved them from fully opening but annoying all the same. The N/S one i put in a drop bolt into the floor what held the door shut closer than the crap latch ever did. Once the other side was shit they never even rattled. Never got the noise from behind my head as the O/S sliding door got sealed shut as my van was a wee camper.

#55 Re: General Discussion » Is There A Problem With Scudo Nearside Outer CV Boots? » 2024-06-07 23:00:38

When i was saying retaining clip i was meaning this (Video) Like i say the CV joint can move up and down the shaft a few CM. Not all fall off gladly as i never had one on the O/S CV joint on my Maxus.

#56 Re: General Discussion » Is There A Problem With Scudo Nearside Outer CV Boots? » 2024-06-04 17:56:23

Ask the garage to check has the retaining spring clip round the shaft. If not when turning right the CV joint can run up the shaft a few CM almost to the point of jumping off. If this is the case then your boot will be stretching on almost every corner.

Night and day from the old Banana engine plus they have a bit more power. The black one i made the mistake if putting a solid flywheel in when the clutch end. Almost as soon as i turned the key i regretted it. That was only 90BHP and managed to get 90mph on the flat from that. Not bad from an old bus the shape of a house brick. The silver one what is plated at 4.2T was lacking in the power. Got that mapped to 120 and put 16" wheels on it to get the revs down. Now it pulls like a train. Bloody thing runs out of puff at 80 but that was just being curious. It almost a camper now and i cant see me doing much more over 60/70 in the thing. Think if the Pug Expert was the 2.0 and like Europe we had the LWB i may have kept it. Probably just made it a bit taller what i am sure is doable. When i started to do Gardening a bought a dispatch but that soon got to small as my client list grew so got the LDV Maxus for work. That was only the 1.9 also and was useless on hills with anything more than my gardening tools in the back.

Good to know

I once managed to get a BMW K100 in a Citroen Visa van ( with some bodgery) so hoped the Expert would
be useful, not  like the old LDV Convoy 400 which I could ride a bike in of course but I didn't want that big of a van.

Ha. I went from my Pug Expert micro camper to this Convoy

I presume that is the Matrix with the two plastic pipes sticking out the side. Worth taking out for a flush. How does the heater valve work??? My present bus its a mechanical gate operated by a wire. The gate has some steel parts that rust and jam either closed or open.

1, I only know of x2 LPG garages in 100 miles around...

2- get it imported, will be cheaper and quicker, than the only option I could suggest is to try to find a mechanic, who'd make one from start to end with semi ready parts (catalytic converter apart) it's simple job, but labour still going to the point of not worth doing it.

3- Try Peugeot, Fiat st(d)ealers.

Keep us posted.

Will import tax not kill that idea? Unless its under £135

#67 Re: General Discussion » High Mileages On Mk1s » 2024-03-20 09:52:45

Think it was around 180k when i sold on my Expert and my Dispatch was about 130k. Next owner let the Expert rot and failed an MOT miserably. The Dispatch the last i looked was still on the road. Look after the engine with regular oil and filters changes they should run for ever. I remember working for Group4 and we switched from Fiestas to Pug 309's for a year then 306's. I am sure the early days were 1.9TD then switched to 2.0. These cars were on the road 24/7 and could easily rack up 100k a year. We had them on a three year lease and drove as good as we got them when handed back. Just the interior looked old and rotten but they had to be serviced at the proper intervals and the book stamped at Peugeot.  Yeah, Regular service and look after the bodywork and running gear there is not reason why you cant have that van up until the doctors says, "Hoy, Enough. Hand the licence back to DVLA you auld fart"

Yea I imagine a Pre-MOT is gonna be more strict because "this failed and you said it wouldn't!". Ain't nobody gonna complain about "you said this would fail and it passed" so they're gonna err on the side of caution

Plus the what a waste of money factor. 55 quid for a class 4 MOT. How much for a mobile mechanic who i very much doubt can do MOT's. Nah, Never did a pre MOT in my almost 38 years of driving. Just get the bugger in and fix the fail sheet withing the time period and jobs a good un

If you want a larger van consider the LDV Maxus. I paid £1500 for my 07 plate over two years back. Changed belt and clutch as it had no history but its a work horse. Easy to work on. Plenty parts available. Galvanised body and the 2.5 VM Engine used in some Jeeps. You can get a SWB low roof, LWB mid roof or LWB high roof. Mine was a mini but but using it as a work van so blanked the windows and wood lined.

#73 Re: General Discussion » Suggestions For Brighter Reversing Bulbs » 2024-02-24 02:15:53

When i put my last Dispatch out for pastures new and went larger one thing what pissed me of is not being able to judge reversing into gaps at night even when using a reverse camera. I was lucky i could take the whole light unit out and bin the lot for LED. This did help but i wanted a bit better as it things still looked like an out of focus TV so a put a small light low and in the middle. You can see it in this picture under the doors. It did not need to be bright just enough to reflect any cars, walls or whatever drunk that wants to walk behind a reversing motor. No recommendation as i just grabbed the first bit of flush LED tat on ebay and it was an instant hit. What i will say if you want to change all bulbs to LED make sure your stop/tail light is not Chinese tat. The majority of them you can hardly tell at night if the brake has been pressed. I even bought a set that said the P21/5W but looked more like 6/5W

In all of my "Eurovan" vehicles - including the earlier Synergie/806 setups - it's been electronic signals. Different electrical connections between the eras, but never any cable driven ones

Interesting. My Expert was a 99/2000 model where the Dispatch was 04. Would that make a difference?? Probably thinking my 306's then
