Does anyone know where I can get this or the bushes/bolts? Drawing a blank every where I search for stock... and there's no way I'm paying £200 for a new one lol.

Any advice/info greatly appreciated.

After my alternator packed in and I wangled a higher amperage used one for nothing I realised I had never checked what battery the van should actually have (2004 1.9D 70), turns out its the same 096 battery as my golf... which is only 19ish amps less than a spare mercedes (new) vito battery I had, after my vito never started again, so I've now bodge this in, I had to relocate the 60amp primary fuse holder but meh, I think it'll work, so far eveything is working great, no more like its in limp mode when I try get past 40mph etc lol.

Note: Airbox was half missing when I got it, so I made do with what I had laying about my garage... as you do lol.

Also now sporting my forum sticker but I'll get a pic of that somewhere scenic :-P

I've been trying to identify a bar/bush that needs replaced on the backof my van, this link appears to be gold... handy for others too maybe? https://www.ilcats.ru/peugeot/?function … anguage=en

Turns out I need number 2 rear anto roll bar... might just cut the thing off, if it's not there they can't fail it on an MOT? lol.

#81 Re: Maintenance » SH HS 32V Fuse, funny looking thing? Immo? Fan no work etc. » 2021-08-23 12:12:47

Only just got round to doing something to the van as work and life has been hectic, well..... it turns out a mate picked up a random alternator from a 2.0 for nothing for me and as luck would have it, it was almost the same as the valeo one in mines but larger(Pulley same size), so that's bodged straight on without any issue and is now charging things fine, following that I spent 3 hours with the dash stripped trying to fix the heater blower and indicators, I've managed to get the heater all working again using a relay from.. no idea, one I found in my box that was similarly rated and works lol.

Now though it appears I have indicators but no hazard warning lights, so I can only assume the indicator relay got slightly cooked as well?! - Everything else seems to be working now though!

#82 Re: Maintenance » SH HS 32V Fuse, funny looking thing? Immo? Fan no work etc. » 2021-07-19 23:18:29

I've since read how to change the brushes be it on a bosch or valeo so will give that a go when I get paid, will take pics if there is interest.

#83 Re: Maintenance » SH HS 32V Fuse, funny looking thing? Immo? Fan no work etc. » 2021-07-18 03:44:10

We shall see bud, been focusing on my 21yr old golf since that all works fine, but was in the middle of sanding the whole body etc, then van broke.. was using van as the daily lol, so now in the middle oc changing wings on golf, 1500/2k sand whole thing, well half of it is done Lol.

#84 Re: Maintenance » Fuel gauge » 2021-07-18 03:39:22

Probably, mines was very inaccurate untl it had 3 or 4 full tanks in it, eventually when it was down at 1/4 it would not drop straight off the end and the light come on lol, try putting some injecor cleaner in the tank, tesco has redex at £2 at the mo smile

This does sound consistent with I had my alternator issues. That signal wire that was broken between the alternator and the battery light, when I made the connection a relay clicked in the glove compartment and the light went out.

That would be my first check, see if that wire has continuity. For me it was broken where it crimps (or rather wasn't crimped) onto the ring terminal thing

Hi bud, I managed to get home running it off the 2 spare atteries I had, the alternator is goosed I think, no voltage change and engine dies soon as + terminal removed.

I think this might be the straw that breaks the camels back, it's neding rear panhard etc as well so... is it worth spendingon, i dunno lol.

Hi All,

Tonight I went to start the van again after being at shops and blower motor stopped, started digging through the fuse box and found a 20amp that's associated with the cig lighter circuit (I have usb sockets on it for devices), changed that, cig ligter started working again but no blower motor and battery light on constantly with engine running, I don't have a multimeter with me but the engine still starts and as far as I can tell it's stil charging as there's no dimming of lights revving/ using full beam etc etc, engine off or on all the lights are the same.... the only anomoly possibly is this 32v fuse, anyone know what it's for?

I have heard something making a noise near the fuse box when going over rough ground, when I hear that the battery light goes off, so I'm not sure there, most of time light stays on - Any advise on any of this welcomed lol.

Best,
-Stu.

I think the interesting bit is that in theory the alternator can't start without the initial current from the stop lamp.  It's possible that there is enough residual magnetism left in the rotor to start it up.

Ahh, interestingly before I always had to "wake up" my alternator by revving it to 2k revs. Once running it charged just fine.

Since fixing the ring terminal I no longer have to do that

I had to do the same to mines when I got it, which made me check tonight with the battery light being permanently on with engine running (blower motor stopped etc, I've posted this in afew threads), I did check  that though and it's all still connected with a nice goop of grease to stop corrosion, so I dunno, roll on first light :-P smile

Aye it helps a bit, sorry bud not been o here for a while as been up to eyes with work and life, but it's still going just, got power/alternator issues that appeared tonight, so got that along side rear panhard bushes/beams/shocks needing done, meh, we shall see if I fix it and keep it another year dependin gon what's what lol.

#90 Re: Maintenance » Dispatch brake issue - very limited vac assistance » 2021-07-16 01:13:17

Hmmm do you get any juddering like its ABS at all, or similar? I used to get that until I deleted the ABS lol, but yeah, if it is vaccum related surely you would be able to do a leak test from the master cylinder and/or follow where that connects to? It's been a while since I looked at the brakes on mines and there's n way I'm getting out with a LED light at this time the midgies will eat me alive lol.

My egr is deleted/ relevant vac's are blocked, so that may me worth looking into and or replacing any of the hosing.

I must admit I think I have hd a few waves and nods and I've realised after the fact too, what's funny is... while that site "how many left" shows there is not that many on the road, well, I tend to see one at least every time I'm out in mines lol. smile

Stickers? Didn't know there was some, I may need to have a look. smile

Got some more stuff to add to the blog, hope it'll help folk. smile

Many thanks for this post buddy, I'm currently in the middle of no where and I need to take mines out as the fan stopped working, I went to start the van, 10 minutes after it had been working fine and it just stopped, I found a 20amp fuse which appears to have been part of the cig lighter circuit that had popped, but all other fuses look OK, yet the fan/blower no longer works and my battery light is staying on, I think the laternator is still charging although my split relay has not come on with the engine running... sods law I bugger off in the van and this happens, only thing I don't have with me is a multimeter lol.

Thankfully I'm running off my leisure battery for the moment and I can remote in to the PC at home and get on here, I've got another heavy duty vito battery I can bodge in to place tomorrow if it turns out the alternator is toast, fun fun! - I also forgot to take out a new breakdown policy, Lol.

#94 Re: General Discussion » Cheap dascam review, 3 years ish after I got it. » 2021-05-07 10:15:40

It's been OK this one, it usually also manages to store enough power to catch movement clips while its parked etc, for a cheapy it does the job. smile

#95 Re: Maintenance » Coolant leak on DW8B » 2021-05-06 00:15:31

try some loctite 5660 plastered round it and then shoved in to place, needs left overnight tho. smile - I recently mixed that with some granville red high temp sealant as a bodge for a diesel tank outlet, it's working fine surprusingly, no leaks lol. smile

Edit: I use the 5660 for boost hose leaks on old VW's as most of them have silly wee wings that keep the pipe i plac e with a clip that slips/springs over the pipe, crap design... I find plaster with some 5660... it's hard to even pull the pipe off with no clip after it has cured lol.

I originally kitted this van out as a temporary camper in 2019 I think, it's not been anywhere much since lockdown and was used to move engines and haul crap between garage units lol, so.... I've got this far, diesel heater is back in with a new tank as last one leaked, new carpet, just bodged a halfords solar panel on to the roof, but now not sure how to run the wiring for it, Van has 3 batteries, the leisure, main engine and a massive battery I got to try fix my vito... which is dead, so the battery has never been used, this is now my spare starter battery, if the samsung LED's which are my main internal lights drain the main battery one night (Unlikely but you never know lol), then I have this healthy battery to fall back on.

The Halfords panel is not fantastic but I want the choice of say, all 3 batteries trickle charging or just 1 depending on what switch is on..... turns out i only have LED switches.... and I don;t want to spend any more money on this van....need to make do with what I have, decisions LOL, maybe the LED draw on these will make the trickle charge pointless, I'm not sure to be honest, I'll try the solar panel jumpered to the switch tomorrow, see what the output is with the led lit on the switches.

It's still a WIP, need to hide wiring etc but other than that, it's basic functional, no cupboards etc etc... I can still use it to move stuff or take stuff to the tip lol.

Will add some more pics as time goes on, if any interest. smile

I originally got this as it was like people were blind to a white van coming towards them with its headlights on... anyway, the Campark R5 is OK for the money, it records front and rear, HD quality... indeed I've had it 3 years and only tonight connected the wire to actuate the rear camera, in doing so it actually gives you the reverse rectangle.space guide thing, which I did not expect lol...anyway these are down to £25 on fleabay, worth a look for the money. smile

Couple of my pics, it clamps over your existing rear view...

Edit: I also have 04 plate vito traveliner rear 2/4 seats, seatbelts and brackets if anyone wants, make me a good offer wink

#99 Re: Camper Conversions » Lockdown Project » 2021-05-04 22:30:53

very nice, but for a van that's worth nothing and will rot out in several areas, I'll stick to a free carpet and a Z bed in mines, I'm ex army, as long ass I have heat/power for gadgets and something comfy to sleep on, I don't care what else is inside the van Lol, function over form tongue + Means I can still use it for moving engines/tip runs etc smile
