I use 5W40 fully synthetic in my 1.9 DW8 with no problems.
Half of it ends up on the floor like, but it does its job in the mean time.
If you have a leak try the area around the exhauster pump, ( opposite end of the cam from the drive) , it's afairly common place for oil leaks.
Hmm, it does appear to be coming from the right (as you look at it) side of the engine so that could make sense.
I'm not familiar with an exhauster pump, is it towards the top middle or bottom of the engine? If you're saying it's on the cam, do you mean the brake vacuum pump?
I assume you've all been doing this with no noticeable negative consequence? I've got a pretty bad oil leak and am pondering whether it's because of this, but if you're all doing it it can't be that.
I still refuse to believe it's not the proper place to fill it!
Ever noticed the newer vans have that raised bonnet but the older ones have a flat one?
When your van gets to a certain age, the bonnet doesn't hold up as well as it used to.
It's 2 bolts and a couple of wires. Definitely sounds excessive. £160 + VAT sounds a bit much too.
I checked the manual and even that thinks I'm able to get a bottle into that one on the top of the engine

But I agree, it's surely there for owner use. It has the oil symbol on it and everything
I'm trying to track down an oil leak, and corresponding oil consumption. In looking around Citroen Service for how the PCV stuff works, I've found this diagram:

It labels the thing bolted to the front of the engine bay (4) as "Gas Recycling Breather" and the hose (5) as "Engine Breather Hose".
I've been filling up the engine oil using that, assuming it's there because the one at the top of the engine is an arse to get to.
Have I been doing it wrong all this time?
Jt_innit, I have a bench seat I'm unlikely to use in Lancashire but could also do something around West Yorkshire. Could deliver if you fancy covering fuel if you're somewhat local
Sounds like the 2.0 HDi (engine code DW10 i think)
scudo 2006 1.9 jtd
1 is the intercooler
Unless I'm mistaken, the only 1.9s with turbos, and therefore intercoolers, were the XUD9s, which stopped being produced in 2000.
Could you confirm? What cc is your engine?
Weather's looking pretty good up here in Northern England. Probably gonna head towards North Yorkshire/Durham kind of area, but I'll see where the weather takes me!
Anyone else got anything planned?
I don't know is short answer
But I've never seen a(the) 3rd injector wire on mine(2005 facelift) fairly sure it's DW8B...
A *third* wire? I don't have any. Just the metal injector pipes, and rubber leak off pipes.
Plus a friend of mine has a 1999 Scudo with a DW8 and has stuck in a couple of XUD9 injectors (all be it temporally... That was 2yrs or more ago) can't say how it runs over all as he just dodges about locally.............................
Really? I heard that the DW8 head has a lot in common with the 1.5 TUD they put in 106s/Saxos as opposed to the block which is more XUD9-y. I'm surprised XUD9 ones fit, but maybe it's because the DW8 fuel pump has more in common with the XUD9. I'm sure it was a temporary fix that he's totally going to get round to fixing
My number 4 injector has decided the engine needs a diesel wash and is spraying diesel (or in my case, vegetable oil) all over the engine bay.
Hopefully it won't need one, but if it comes to it, can I get an injector out of a DW8B and stick it in my non-ECU DW8?
About 15years or so ago had a Peugeot 406 GRDT (XUD9) which was sold on around the 195,000mls mark with a busted cam belt (water pump seized) .......... It received a second hand head and went on to be a Taxi......................
Oooh, my Synergie died of a broken cam belt. I still have it and I'd love to get it back running again. How big/expensive a job was that?
I assumed you're meant to get rails for them like n the Synergie/806, but could be wrong.
That said, I bolted my solar panel on using M6 bolts and it works fine

Love that part of the country. Everything just seems so remote, and the roads are pretty fun to drive around.
The beauty of sleeping in your van is that you can afford to drive around and see a lot of places. It's the ultimate freedom.
Glad to see you had fun.
Hmm, that's a fair distance. I'd say that's probably about £40 in fuel.
I assume you'll find one cheaper than that more locally, but if you still fancy it for that + a nominal amount for the seat, I'm happy to do the drive sometime.
This is your alternator diagram, which on mine shows the tensioner nut. Can't see the same stick on yours, or one at the bottom, and it's called a "retractor roller", so maybe it's auto tensioning.

Postage sounds brave. I think I might know someone with a van it could fit in
Where abouts are you? If it's a sensible distance I could deliver for fuel cost. Might be a good excuse for a jolly
You guys should look at your wire diagrams. I found out there was a version of my van with a rev counter and its quite rare to find but apparently the working wires for them are already in the loom and adding the rev counter clocks is just a matter of plug n play
I have an old dead Synergie with the same dash, only it has a rev counter (and thermometer!). Do you reckon I could swappety that?
I've got a bench seat in decent nick in Preston doing nothing if you'd like to make an offer?
This is the seat before I took it out (on the far side)

Ah yea, seems the forum doesn't have PMs. If you're comfortable posting it here I guess there's not any harm that can come from it.
My Synergie/806/Dispatch were all different in their own special ways. The Synergie iirc had the adjuster nut sticking out the bottom, the 806 was self tensioning like you describe, the Dispatch has that nut at the top. My top one isn't behind the cam belt cover though.
If you fancy PMing me your VIN I can look up what yours is meant to be.
I don't know if this applies to yours but mine's not a self adjusting one like I expected. I spent ages trying to figure the damn thing out.
The aux belt tensioner adjustment nut is here on my 1999 DW8 Dispatch

My old Synergie 1.9TD XUD9 got to 247,000 miles before the timing belt snapped and killed it. Probably would've kept going for ages otherwise.
