Never have to have a proper look TBH but the norm is yellow and red are live. Red being constant and yellow ignition. Multimeter or bulb with confirm. When sussed try the  black as earth. If yes the rest will be speakers.

#179 Re: General Discussion » Engine temperature » 2022-03-29 22:29:19

My dispatch was 75 no matter what the speed or weather. Previous van (Expert) was around 80. Both had perfect cab heaters also so i seen no issue so never gave it a 2nd thought.

Funny that, I didn't notice.

I was far too distracted by the spliff temperature gauge.

Funny also i was going to contact you the other week as we are having another meet with our LDV group in four weeks. Was going to suggest if you are around Tibbie on the Sunday then have a prober blether over a few beers but unfortunately the wife has to work the following Monday so its straight home but......
We will be doing a lot more at home this year rather than a euro trip as well as another couple of meets on our group and Tibbie being a great place to just stop and relax for the night before home and reality of life, so next time ill give you a shout and we can talk shite over a log fire and beer. I may even show you my spliff temperature gauge  tongue

Had to pull over in Germany to get this picture

Clocks-100000.jpg

That was the last bus. Present one is only about 86k but as 22mpg it can bloody stay that low at todays fuel prices  lol

Most people who have failures seem to use Sikaflex (and probably the wrong one).

I know people who stick panels down using Sikaflex with no issue. One person in our self build group used the cheap Sika out B&Q and that is fine also where he drives like he stole it. As long as you stick it on clean surfaces it should be great. When i got my bus the panel was stuck down side ways and would hang over the edge. That was Sikaflex also and needed a carving knife to remove it but personally i use brackets for the sake of air flow.

Your injectors electronic? If so pull the wires of one and see if noise goes away. If not try another. It will still run like a back of shite but you will know what one. TBF you should be able to see it bubbling and if not try a bit water. Fuel Timing solenoid could make that racket also.

Got to love Solar. Got my bus back yesterday from three month storage in a cold soggy field. Solar as well as leisure battery has been looking after the starter battery also. Fired into life first turn of the key.

Got a Maxus as a work van and going to add 100w panel into that later in the year as they are bad for battery drain when not getting used. Also looking to stick in a small inverter to charge my power tool batteries.

#186 Re: General Discussion » Inlet Manifold Bolt sizes » 2022-03-16 23:54:08

Cant remember the size but mine were rounded and stuck fast. Life was easier ordering a 2nd hand one then getting angry on the one you have

If not you know you can buy prime bulbs on ebay from about six quid.

#188 Re: Camper Conversions » Camper insurance » 2022-03-05 01:57:02

No i never put that blog up and i dont think i put the poor mans thermal blinds one up either  Here
I had a bit beef with a few of them who have there heads stuck firmly up there own arses, or each others. He was telling me we need to have a HAB Test done on self builds what is total crap. Recommended only and only by law if building campers and installing gas/electric for a living. Grey area about resale of your old van but the clique know best so my fee is about to run out this month then im done. On my last membership i did wing the £50 raffle so i was up in cash and educated in a few other things   tongue

Its not the Mad Vad Putin that is putting us off this year its more this Covis shizz is still hanging around and i cant be doing with the masks any longer. They are binned on the 21st here in Scotland thank god. Now i can really annoy the folk who are still dancing round you in supermarkets  big_smile Luxemburg beer is cheaper BTW

Cant remember but I think I have the same as you for Euro cover, 90 days.  I don't see me using it this year.  Maybe next year.

We are not going this year also. Planned a three week Trip for Italy, Croatia, Slovenia, Austria, Poland and a few other countries. in 2023. That is unless Putin the prat does not blow them up as well.

It would work but having a separate tank for the heater would allow for different fuel mix.  I don't know how good the heater would be on almost neat veg oil.

Quick google says not to good

A-Plan for mine.

Got it cheaper than the Adrian Flux quote with less jumping through hoops and let me use my NCB from another policy I had.  Cost a bit more than most of your quotes, but I asked for a lot of miles for the year.  Also no need to submit a million receipts to get accepted value or whatever they call it.  I just send pics of it when it's finished (some day). smile

You are on SBMCC. You could have got a discount with Flux. Personally i would never even consider using them as the internet is full of horror stories. They seem great giving a cheap quote but the problems start when making a claim. I put a link up on the SBMCC with a list of horror stories asking the Flux Rep who is on the site to explain. Not a peep out of him. I ended up using AIB Insurance who so far have been great. Camper, car and work van. Wife is a named driver and had a dunt in the car. Next years premium went up by a massive £20 big_smile My Convoy is just under 300 quid with breakdown what covers 90 days in Euroland also.

#193 Re: Camper Conversions » Small sliding windows » 2022-03-02 18:19:42

Yip put them in mine and changed the back doors to ones with glass

I feel if i was in the van living for even as little as a week the lack of windows in crap weather would be depressing.

Cheers, that is about the space I have.  Means running a feed all the way to the front but not much different to running from the tank I suppose.

Would tapping into the fuel line further up not work. As close to the fuel filter as you can but tank side. Add a Y piece of pipe and a one way valve to reduce the chance of ait getting back. Im sure with what is in the filter and pipes to engine will be enough to have the engine running till more fuel pumps up if air was to get in but always handy to add one way valves.

#195 Re: Camper Conversions » Diesel Heater positions » 2022-02-28 23:15:40

Dono if all the same but the 10lt one is 8cm thick and about 40 square.

#196 Re: Camper Conversions » Diesel Heater positions » 2022-02-28 00:29:45

Not sure there is a clearance guideline as i have just been flicking through the install guide and no real mention of it apart from dont block the air intake at the back. Looking at some install videos folk have done on youtube some are about 5/6cm away from a flat wall. I am not much more in my bus and its not struggling or overheating. The tank is quite a thick plastic and can take a knock. Its 10lt but you can buy separate 5lt ones what come out the stand alone diesel heaters. You can use any tank you may have sitting about or even tap into you vans main tank. Unsure how the heating will be on a diesel/oil mix but they do run on other fuels so i cant see why not.

There is a UK based facebook page on how to install the heaters and any help needed. That button dial can be chucked in the bin if you want and use a digital one however the advantage is no annoying LED light on all night as the digital one does not go out after the heater is off unless you add a switch to your 12v supply.

Are the 2kw physically smaller then?

When they first came out I heard of them being advertised as 5 or 2 kw but were just the same and rebadged by some suppliers.

I was told the same also but my bus came with a 5kw one what was not working properly so i ordered another 2kw one what is a good 6cm shorter. The pipework is thinner also.

Only got the 2kw myself for my larger Convoy. I am happy with just the chill out the room but with smaller vans i would say the 5kw is over kill and the two is smaller.

I meant from the diesel heater?  But i'll take it you routed the exhaust/muffler away from the drop out vent.

My convoy must be a good seven foot wide. My heater is on the N/S and Exhaust on the O/S. I wanted it like this so no fumes get in my awning as i intend on having a heat outlet hose with a closable vent to heat my awning also when camped up. You get exhaust extensions if you are worried.

Smaller but fatter

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/113926942860 … =109724841

Probably better searching marine as a small boat may have what your looking for. As for that strut. Get the angle grinder out. Its not there on the taxi or disabled versions of the van. I took a few out my present bus to allow toilet cassette access and one in my last bus for a gas locker door.  You may get a bit more panel vibration but your glass and any insulation should soak that back up.
