Hi all.
I'm hoping somebody can offer me some advice.
My 2007 citroen dispatch 1.9D seems to misfire at around 50mph in 5th gear. The engine kind of stutters, and it blows smoke out of the exhaust.
However, it only happens when holding steady revs, and no issue when accelerating through 50mph. Its a bit of a problem when going through roadworks at constant 50mph. I either need to go 45mph or 55mph at constant speed and revs, as this stops the issue.
I can replicate the problem at standstill in neutral, by getting the revs to rise slowly and then finding the point where the stuttering begins and holding the revs there.
The engine doesn't cut out, but the exhaust pumps smoke out and the engine stutters. Give it a fraction more on the accelerator and its fine.
I'm confused as to what it could be. Weather conditions make no difference.
Any advice welcome
many thx

sounds to me like ERG (useless) system failing or more precisely vacuum isn't sufficient enough to operate clogged up ERG valve. Blocking it with 6mm bolt or ball bearing should solve it.

Well, It took less than 5mins to do, and the van is now purring like a sports car.
. Well maybe not, but you get my drift. The stutter/judder has gone and the engine pulls lovely. One thing i did notice was, the pipe on the back of the egr had already been blanked off, but the one on the front left was still attached. I took the front left pipe off and blocked the end of the pipe and the hole to the egr with electrical tape. Job done, and the van even pulls going up hill now.
Thanks so much.
