I cant test this as the previous owner has gorilla glued the ashtray shut. I have a reverse camera i want to install and the screen i want on an ignition live. Is the fag lighter an ignition live so i can take a feed from or anyone know what free space in the dash fusebox is best to use?
Now away to find an ashtray unit as i miss my USB's

OK. Luckily a local scrap yard had a van in and the ashtray was the best part to salvage. Luckily i took the fag lighter also as some twat cut the wire totally as there is nothing in there so still none the wiser. Looks like i need to route a new cable in for that also

Mine is always on.
Ill rewire it the other way then. It was like that also when i got my Convoy. Had to change it as i hate the thought of leaving my phone or sat nav plugged in and draining the battery. 16ah rated wire should be OK for that wont it?

I used one of these pigtails in fuse box

IIRC it was 2nd or 3rd fuse down.................
Heres the post I did at time don't know if you can see which fuse I used to piggy back on

Ive since added a USB on top of dash and fed it down through to an ignition fuse

Good one cheers. Not seen one of them before, two ordered. That will make life a lot easier. So is top slot the new circuit and lower the original?

Aye something like that...... when You remove the fuse from fuse box it fills the empty slot on the pigtail which then replaces the removed fuse .............
Much more simple to do than try and discribe.............can't remember what circuit it was for just that it was only live when ignition was on.................
BTW the double USB I put on the dash is V Handy where it is (for us)... phone charging, Sat Nav And such .................But a real pain in the hoop and FAF to get wring down to fusebox from there............

Yeah i gathered how they work. Ill just rattle up and down the fusebox till i find an ignition live, Brake light will probably be an option. i think just with this being a works van two usb in the middle will be enough. I prefer to use the flush ones for power sockets. Your dash top USB is only 500mA. I find them slow in charging phones and sometimes if using my mobile as the sat nav it will not charge it as well as let me use Navigation. 2.1A is the minimum i go for now.

The cigarette lighter can be always on or ignition on depending on how you locate the fuse in the fusebox on the passenger side
