Gluing the air brake deflectors to the doors without ruining the door?

Something I've seen on the E7 taxisand I've always wanted was those air brake deflectors that stick to the front doors and deflect air away from the sliding doors.

I was at a scrappy the other day and lo and behold they had a pair! £20 and they were mine.

They were white, and I've had my first go at spray painting - primer, paint and lacquer. Looking reasonable now so it's time to stick them on.

But I don't want to ruin the paint on the door. How can I attach them, without making a mess of the door if ever I choose (or have to) take them off in future?

Or a dolop or Three of Silicone RTV which doubles as a waterproof sealent, gasket maker and Adhesive

I would go with the RTV (as Vaz2121 suggests), run a bead a cm's in from the edges of the deflectors and 'wiggle' the deflectors to seat. If you want to remove them later the RTV will be easier than tapes and you prob won't damage the deflectors whilst removing them. Also a little nylon string to put under the bead of silicone with a tiny bit discretely accessible will break the sealant if you want to remove them. RTV is easy to peal off paint too.

It's actually the door I'm looking to not damage - I don;t care if the back of the deflectors looks crap. Does the RTV set soft? I'm thinking like silicon sealant you put round baths, that'd peel off nicely without taking the paint with it

I think I'll get some RTV and put it on a it of paint somewhere on the inside I don't care about, leave it for a week and see how it fairs.

RTV is basically silicone sealant but has a good weather resistance. It won't damage the paint on the door.It does dry flexable and much better than bath sealant. I used to use RTV on aircraft to fit flap seals etc so if it's ok for aircraft it should do the job smile

PS removing the RTV from the door will require a lot of gentle scraping with a plastic blade or a solvent to soften it
