Thought I'd post a quick update, some good progress and some bad news. This is over the past few months before and after 3 months of travelling.

First off, we made a template for a gear gaiter. Plan is to make one with fabric matching the interior later on:

Secondly we got back from our travels and started on the interior! Insulation begun and battens laid. Hardest bit was getting out that blooming lower bulkhead!:

Now for the bad news. We found oil in the coolant which I believed to be from before the oil cooler was bypassed by the previous owner. We had a block test done and sadly it's come back as a head gasket fault! So now we are trying to decide whether to sell up at a massive loss or to spend £400-500 getting it fixed and carry on. I've spent about £1500 on the van alone now! Runs amazing and pretty solid but already well over budget and haven't driven it once in the year I've had it.

I would keep going if you can smile I've just spent a £1000 on my van which wasn't really worth it but I had spent so much time converting it to a camper sad  whatever you decide, good luck big_smile
Decisions roll

#9 Re: Camper Conversions » Has anyone tried the ply lining kits? » 2018-07-27 16:23:04

They will be fine, plenty room behind for insulation, they will be lazer cut so should be perfect. If your not confident in cutting your own or don't want the hassle these are great  smile

#11 Re: General Discussion » What happened to fuel prices in Europe? » 2018-07-25 12:52:05

The £ pound isn't worth a lot now, going to be a one pound for one euro shortly

Upper part of the central "console",  the armrest box is removable and fit the gap between seats. The mileage is very low, around 48.000 miles. Hard to believe but the van was a spare vehicle at care home and was left into bushes for a long time. Good points: low mileage, bad points: rotten exhaust, rotten subframe and a lot of other parts. Rear seats were originally as a second row of seats in Mazda Bongo.

Nice van big_smile  I've always wondered about these wheelchair vans with the lowered rear floor  hmm  where do you get an exhaust for them ?  I have thought about buying one but was unsure about the exhaust ...

Greeting Igor big_smile   be nice to see more pics of your van, is it a camper ?

#18 Re: Camper Conversions » Single Passenger Seat » 2018-07-09 14:00:03

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/FRONT-SEATS- … 1438.l2649     heres a pair of single seats on eBay, but a bit bloody pricey if you ask me yikes  they are rare to find though sad they do look to be in decent condition too tbh, might be worth it especially if you get the seat base with the passenger seat smile

#19 Re: Maintenance » Just noticed this on my sliding door latch » 2018-07-09 13:55:19

wow yikes it would take quite a bit of force to do that, my doors are more like aeroplane wings when I'm driving as they bellow out at the top that much lol big_smile  I wouldn't have thought this was the cause of the metal splitting though, surely ?
