My 806 had this fixed with a new key cut from Timpsons oddly enough. The new key worked fine, the old one needed it pressing right into the lock

Did Timpsons have the key type in stock or did they have to order it in?

I did a quick search in the forum for 'warm' and there a few posts about warm starting issues - this thread may be interesting:

And a lot of items point to the stop solenoid not behaving itself

Next bit of fun will be to try and get a 16mm cable from the load area to the engine bay, for the VSR.  I am guessing some cable runs will exist behind the dash on the passenger side.  Failing that i'll drop it under the vehicle and run it at the top of the nearside sill in conduit.

If you don't have electric windows then there's a useful 'spare' 30A cable at the interior fusebox...

The switch in red connects to a relay fed from the electric windows line at the fuse box (permanently live).

The relay then powers the usb and also a 3-way cigarette lighter socket which hides under the 'airbag tray' on the passenger side (I prised it up/broke some plastic tabs)

I know there's been discussion of the best type of fuel pump for veg oil, it was Bosch rather than Lucas, wasn't it?

Need to see what's fitted on my DW8

#10 Re: Maintenance » Rear Wiring Breakout Board » 2021-06-13 08:44:54

A bit more populated - nothing that uses any meaty power yet as I've still not put in a relay or wired in the connector between the battery and the heated rear window wire (my windows aren't heated).

But the standard trailer lights are all active, as is the reverse line for the cheapy rear camera mini_IMG_20210612_163225050.jpeg

Not as pretty as it could be, but it does the job, just ready for trailer hookup, USB converter, split charge and leisure cell

(I have no idea why it's upside down, I've edited many times and rotated it and even tried to upload the upside down image so it gets turned the right way - no luck!)

#13 Re: Maintenance » Ancillary Belt - Tensioning weirdness » 2021-06-11 16:35:33

11 quid Dayco belt turned up from eBay (Evans halshaw stock label)

All fitted in about an hour (including wheeling tools out, jacking up the van, wheel removal, etc - and reverse when fitted)

Yes, still at the same place, but only if you're sure!

#15 Re: Maintenance » Ancillary Belt - Tensioning weirdness » 2021-06-08 08:15:08

@KenBW2 - on that Berlingo forum you put "Oh and yea, looks like my old belt was too long at 1438mm. The new 1390mm one leaves plenty of room between the pullleys." Which is exactly the same problem I have - I'm glad you've point me to a shorter belt that will fit as I don't fancy making the adjustment to the level where the two tensioner/idlers are almost touching!

Related - does anyone want a belt that is 40mm too long for me to use? :-)

Definitely coolant level - that light came on with my bus the other day when I'd (deliberately) drained all the coolant for the water pump change

#17 Re: Maintenance » Ancillary Belt - Tensioning weirdness » 2021-06-07 12:36:44

OK, a bit of digging around and I found this thread:

https://www.berlingoforum.com/thread-16239.html

This seems to be the setup I have and also lists a belt which may fit, 6PK1388 - going to give it a go!

#18 Re: Maintenance » Heated Rear Screen Relay location » 2021-06-06 22:29:53

Ah, don't worry, - a little trial and error with a bulb and a battery identified the middle pin of the middle (yellow) empty relay socket.

I'm going to take the permanent 30A live from the heated seats fuse (I don't have heated seats!) and run that to the back over the rear window line. Once there I'll use the ignition-switched 'trailer' feed to tap off a heavy duty relay so that I've got both a permanent live and switched live high current feed at the rear of the van - may even put leisure battery there with split charger

#19 Re: Maintenance » Heated Rear Screen Relay location » 2021-06-05 07:14:07

I reckon so. On the right of my fuse box there are three relay locations. The bottom one is populated, the other two aren't. The Electrical Diagram suggests that the heater timer (which I reckon will incorporate the relay should be in the fuse box area.

My next option will be to see if I can feed in via the fuse but I wouldn't mind tapping in to the heater's 12V supply, too

There is a nice meaty wire running to the back of the vehicle for the Heated Rear Windows - I don't have heated rear windows so figured I may use that cable to supply the rear ancillary electrics (USBs, lights, etc).

I'd like to find out where it terminates in at the front of the van so that I can splice a live feed in to it.

The wiring diagram is not the easiest to pick apart for actual locations and there is often not enough slack in loom at the front to 'scroll down' to find the printed wire codes.

So, does anyone have heated rear screens - when you switch them on, can you hear a relay 'click' anywhere -- or do you even know exactly which relay it is?

Cheers

Yeah, there's nothing obvious like that on mine - Eurocarparts gives a ball-park figure of £120 for something similar - I'll try the local scrappy first!

#22 Re: Maintenance » Ancillary Belt - Tensioning weirdness » 2021-05-31 22:05:48

Looking at the image, I wonder if slackening of the nut between 1 and 2 will allow the 2 idler to move and take up slack...

All the stuff I've found suggests that there is an automatic tensioner on most/all of the diesel engines in these - I'm not sure that I have the original engine (the plate has been removed or corroded off).

But anyway, here's the set up on my van:

ancilliryBelt.png

None of these idelers have any movement in them.

The belt I got to replace is 40mm longer than the current belt.

https://dispatchexpertscudo.org.uk/foru … php?id=651 has a diagram of the belt routing and it looks like my (1) and (2) are the same size, but swapped round. And where my (1) is should be the tensioner.

I have refitted the old belt (but it needs replacing) but cannot easily source the same length for my 'setup'

Lots of things on this engine make me suspect it's been finagled with in the past (the waterpump was different, which meant they'd hacksawed a bit off the top-back timing belt cover - more on that in another post).

Thoughts/suggestions? (I had considered using a larger idler (taken from the timing belt replacement) in place of 1 or 3).

Is there much movement in the alternator to take up 40mm of slack (I guess 20mm of movement for 'there and 'back')?

This weekend (today) I hope to finish off my cam-belt change - rain (and work and household maintenance) stopped play for most of the last two weeks but I'm now at the "putting it back together and hoping" stage
