Thanks Casper, will give it a go.
Have been searching for an original spare on EBay etc, but nothing coming up.
Must be one at a breakers somewhere ?
Cheers.

I have listed on the spare parts if anyone may have a spare gear knob for a mk 1 Disoatch as mine is literally falling apart.

However my question on here is how to remove it.
It seems that inside the gaiter at the top is a flange.
I have tried hard to unscrew it, thinking it would just be on a thread, but with no success.
Anyone any ideas.
Would be grateful.
Thanks.
Roly.

Just on the off chance, would anyone have a spare Mk1 gear knob. Mine has done 22 years and has started to disintegrate. Have Araldited it twice, but really had it.
Can’t seem to find anything on EBay or at Pentons Citroen.
Maybe someone knows of a fittable alternative.
Any help gratefully received.
Thanks.

#30 Re: Maintenance » Citroen Dispatch Mk1 1.9 cam belt and water pump. » 2021-10-21 23:28:14

Thanks for the reply Pete. I am certain that it must have had incorrect timing at last cambelt change, as the difference in pickup and performance is amazing.
Drives like a totally different vehicle.
Delighted I have to say.
Cheers.

Just sending out a question really.
Had my cam belt and water pump renewed a couple of weeks ago and wow, for some reason, my dear old girl seems to be running like a turbo.
I have noticed an amazing increase in performance and pickup and just generally runs so much better.
Just wondering if when the first belt was renewed at 40,000 miles, whether it is possible that they could have been one notch  out on the camshaft or crankshaft pulley.
Maybe it would not even run if this was so, but someone out there may know the answer.
So much difference for sure. I am delighted ??

Surely got to be an easier way than that ?
I see many pictures on this group, have never had any success myself, but what other ways are there ?

Hi all I am after the top middle air vent with the vanes in it to direct the air.
Looked on EBay for ages, but nothing, only later models.
My vanes have broken and would be good to get a replacement if anyone has one lurking about unused.
This is the removable triangular shaped item, with the left and right directional bits.
Thanks.

After some advice please. Intending to get my timing belt done shortly. 80,000 miles.
Would it be false economy to leave the water pump alone, or get it changed at this mileage.
The belt was done at 40,000 but not the pump, so unsure whether to chance it or not.
Also another matter. A few years ago, the clock on my 2000, 1.9 diesel Dispatch, went crazy, the hand was flying round. When I took it for a service, asked the garage if they could disable it. I had tried fuses and all sorts of things with no success.
When I got it back, the clock was stopped, but the mileometer was also gone.
Not an MOT item apparently, but have asked them a couple of times what they had done and they can’t seem to remember.
The back light is there, but no display, have shone a torch into it and nothing.
Have had the panel out and no obvious wires cut. Really like to have the mileometer to calculate fuel etc.
Any ideas what they may have done, that would disable both the clock and the mileometer.
Thanks.

Thanks Vaz, just the feedback I was looking for.
Will have a look on EBay and go ahead with at least a pad change on the front.
Having seen the gearbox oil change, will have a go at that one too.
Thanks again.
p.s. how do you get photos to show up on the post page.
I can only get them to appear on my uploads under my username, but not appear on the post itself . ??

Thanks for reply.
Yes they get to be an old friend for sure.
My old Dispatch is in a tidy condition and past it MOT last month with no advisory’s, so well pleased with that.
Will get the timing belt done and guess the water pump ? 80,000 miles now, so guess about time. This will be the second belt.
Just wondering how easy are the front disc pads to change. Have worked on disc brakes before, but not on the Dispatch. Think my pads are getting a bit near the bone ??
Cheers.

Hi all. I am a Newby on here. Have enjoyed reading many of the topics.
I have a 2000, 1.9 Citroen Dispatch. It was converted by my father when he bought it new in 2000 and a fibreglass lifting lid added as well as swivelling front seats.
He decided to utilise the front seats for the beds and fitted two rear seats, that with a bit of fiddling match in with the front.
Probably not the most comfortable setup, but with some good foam works fine.
He also fitted a sink, with a foot pump and a cooker, plus a mini porta potty.
He did many trips away with it with my dear old Mum and sadly when he had a stroke a few years ago, could no longer drive it.
I took it on and have owned it since 2012.
I have enjoyed driving it, a bit gutless, but recently decided to buy a friends Vauxhall Vivaro van. Very tidy and with only 59,000 miles on it.
To cut a long story short. I sorned  the Dispatch and have been driving the Vivaro, with a view to convert it.
After several months, have decided I don’t like it. Have passed it onto another friend and have been tarting up my old friend the Dispatch.
Going back to the header, has anyone found any decent mudflaps for the 2000 model. I see some on EBay, but wondered if anyone has tried any and found them a good fit etc.
I would add a few piccies on here, but don’t seem to find a way to do that. ??
Cheers
Roly.
