it is toeing in you need to get your wheel alinment done it will be the lower ball joint or a track rod end , jack it up and have a good look
have a look in the manual i put up in downloads it should cover the later ones too as they did have some electronic gubbings on them(it has diagrams of the lucas pumps ( im more of a bosh man workrd alot with them on my vws)
if not smoking it will proberly be the fuel scew setting, is the throttle cable slack to the toutch? it could be as simple as i tight throttle cable ,back of idle screws slacken the cable and see if you can push the lever back to cut the revs,, cant be of more help unless i get my hands on it
you sllly monkeys
or mushrooms or Ghosts or a stuck button as it stops with ignition on ,if i ran all day with lights on it will start as soon a igniton is off, with no lights it will take a couple of hours (Somthing to do with battery ampage) anways fuse 14 will have to come out
Has it been like this since you have had it? As casper said could be a air intake problem or somone has been messing with the fuel metering screw (that govens the amount of fuel entering the engine )
A disel sucksits own air and mixs in the cylinders in you have only control over the fuel to the injectors
Bit of extra info
Black smoke = over fueling but burning it White=unburnt fuel usualy caused by fuel condencing in the cylinders on cold morning startups .
Anyone had a problem with the (time) clock spinning round with the ignition off? I have had this a lot this past two weeks while trying to sleep has been driving me potty, Icould just disconect the battry when sleeping but tha seem a bit to mutch
Its good side at loch Doune
I topped up at Ft William 32 lts at 313 miles What i meant as steep pull ups the b roads through the highlands (torridon)and the coastal roads as with you a steady 60-65 mph Kinghouse hotel is ok for a overnighter cracking veiws but beer a tad expensive though
sorry for hijacking the tread :-/
Ive just come back from the far north with my 1.9d loaded up cant grumble with the normaly aphxiated dw8 ran faultlesy for the 1360 miles i bit gutless on some of the steep pullups but in no hurry :-) less to go wrong with th 1.9d
Mine was pissing in last weekend but that was due too being bommarded side on by stornforce winds and rain at Kingshouse hotel GlenCoe,, I had a Ulysee that just had a leeky (replacment) screen Worth checking the screen to see if a replacement
how about using 806/ synergie front end bits
? they look smart

Aye thats the way i see it. Going to Manchester in a fortnight so ill brim the tank before and after and see my reading. Im looking for 45mpg as long as i stay at 60mph.
And i will be heading to skye then to the far north in a weeks time
too low geard for the motorway the 1.9d as was my vw t3 with its diesel box . so allways a mile a min 60mph ,less tireing too
I will have a look on friday but just by the rack of eye!! and feel i reckon they have put 40 psi in its a harsher ride like my old ulysees with 40 in
After fitting 3 new tyres I have just got 90 mile for 9 litrs(10 quid) quite chuffed with that it being a non fly by wire DW8 with most of my gear in
How mutch were he roller blinds. Casper and do they clear when you open the doors?
That is the same as my 806 seats
They keep popping up on my Ebay page as i was looking for some for months I post them on the seats thread when they do , 807 seats also fit
A mice pair of Half leather ones popped up other week
They are great to drive and very heavy duty suspension and stearing , unlike the T4 T5 but you can not get away from the rot on them and tyhey are gettin on in years now My mate Syncro is in great nic but has spent 12 grand on it over the past ten years with recon engine ,panels and such , But it it his hobbie mine was my only transport , Back to the qustion If there where no rot and pigs were flying , and was standerd no engine mods and wasent my only transport Yes i would have kept it , but can only run one so had to go when cambelt snapped,, the scudo might not be as cool but boy is it reliable:-)
got 700 quid for it my thumb went through tail gate putting on trailer !!
I am a bit bias, well alot bias toward the 806/synergie seats as they save alot of hassle and can have thm in in a couple of hours ,
Water Gypsie was your T4 the 2.4 ? the 1.9 scudo has only 5 hp less !! I had a t3 with a tdi lump in it (so mutch rot though !) and went through 3 gearboxs ,, will never have another moneypits dont know the fasination either with VW vans with the engine up front swb T4,T5s are tiny inside
I put it on the end one if that makes sence ! but all is well with them and done over 100 miles on rough country lane and they are still on
only done the wheels today mate ,, yep i like the seats dam comfy I nead to grind the forward stops on the pasanger one so the seat slides upto the dash
Like your Awning i would like one but have no space in the van after the bike and canoe!
i just power washed them nowt fancy as they will be hdden anyways and it turned out ok
Hi Casper They fit perfectly , Sprayed the wheels too with some spare black paint .they look great
Ive been tweeking the van alittle and still nothing coming forward of the sliding door as i have to get my bike in and the bed Board hangs from cords so you dont have to move enything to sleep there also is storage behind the stove
