I've hit the road and headed off to D&G (again!) this weekend.
Anyone else on the road?
"Stay on the road lads.
Keep off the moors!
Beware the full moon..."
The No Overnight parking signs put me off The Lakes, I drove up by Wastwater and couldn't find anywhere to lay up.
I found myself looking at the Mk3 Dispatch/Expert the other day, I love my current van but these latest ones are cool!
The cam belt history was the reason that I bought mine. The vendor allowed me to see the receipt, I rang the garage who confirmed the work that had been done and I was satisfied that I knew what I was getting in to.
(Ironically I've spoken to a taxi driver with an 07 2.0Hdi, his original engine went pop at 400,000 miles. He reckons he'll convert his Mk1 into a camper when he needs a new taxi)
All this talk of speed is alarming!!!
I never take the old girl above 65mph
Cheap set of wheel covers will sort you out for now.
Give the seats a scrub and if they're still grubby then pop a set of covers over them.
I fitted a single piece rubber mat across the front floor and treated myself to a new gear stick gaiter.
A steering wheel rim cover, one that you stitch on, finished off my interior.
I must check that fuse, another one of those jobs I must get around to doing.
When I initially start up it's not charging. I rev it up a bit and the voltage jumps up to 14v and the heater blower kicks in too.
Do 806 alloy wheels fit?
Did they fo a Synergie with alloys, do they fit?
These vans can get a bit like this given the age, mileage etc.
I set myself an annual amount excluding service items, tyres etc, and try and keep to it.
When I'm in doubt I take a look at all my photos from the last 5 years of the various trips.
I've just had 5 days of trouble free motoring, so I'm clutching my lucky rabbits foot tightly!!
Thankfully mine didn't have a bulkhead, I'm quite tall and the seat position would have been an issue. I simply fastened a patterned throw behind the seats to give some privacy.
Well done Ken, is that the blue van or another one ???
Humber Bridge?
There should be 12V on the battery side of the light when the ignition is on.
This is the typical diagram https://dispatchexpertscudo.org.uk/foru … 9173#p9173
I'd check the voltage at the fuse (F28 in this case)
I've had a look, I think that mine is a 2004 facelift model as the fuses arent numbered and the layout doesnt match up to the downloadable pdf manual.
Nice colours. Just had a few weeks in Dumfries/Galloway forests myself. Raiders Road, Glen Trool and a week on the coast.
Back at Tibbie's now and will probably stay the winter.

Call in if you get up this way.
Is that Tibbie Shiels Inn?
Do you know if you're allowed on the loch there?
(With a canoe, not the van!)
I used a grommet where the passenger door hinge is - you;ll find a grommet that's not being used, I drilled a hole in it and if you take the plastic panel off from the inside you can get to it from there
This is how I did it, then under the plastic trim by the passenger door into the rear of the van.
The only thing that's happened to me in the past is that the battery light has come on when the alternator has failed.
I'll try taking the wires off tomorrow and see what happens!
By ignition light, do you mean glow plug, or the battery one?
For the latter, I suppose you could disconnect the alternator, see if it lights up?
It's the battery one, but now you've got me thinking if I've ever seen a glow plug one!
I'll have a look at disconnecting the alternator, is the small wire on the alternator the one that does the battery light?
Hi, I've got no ignition light on the dashboard, I've had the dash off and swapped the bulb with the parking brake light no difference. I've put a voltmeter to the printed circuit board and theres no voltage on it for the ignition light (I checked the voltage to the parking brake light and that shows 12 34v)
Your thoughts of where I should check next are most welcome.
Cheers
Hi, what colour anti freeze should I be using in my 2.0hdi?
Cheers
I've done 25K on my rears, proper van type tread, zig zag pattern like a transit.
The front ones were £35 each.
I'm not doing excessive speed, I'm not cornering at speed in the wet, so 'round and rubbery' does for me.
Hi, is it just me but I seem to have a ridiculous amount of condensation inside the roof in the back.
Normal?
Cold outside, slightly warmer inside causing it??
Cheers
