Surely shouldn't be pressurizing enough to blow at just over 70 degrees?

Isn't around 75 the "normal" temp?

I am sure you must have flushed it and it appears to have flushed itself but could some lumpy contaminant or debris be being picked up and still be intermittently blocking the flow?  A reverse flush perhaps?

Clutching at straws here.

I would hope at £42.00 they come with a voucher for lifetime Greggs refills.

Tight arse.

Half Yorkie, half Jock that I am,  I lashed out on the deluxe folding model:-

The boxes on mine could easily have a hinged locking door attached with hidden or tamperproof fixings.  May do one front one that way.  They are quite a bit smaller than the rear but then... I have little of value.

But as Mr Zimmerman said "If you ain't got nothing, you got nothing to lose".

I am hoping to find another litre or two with pockets behind cutouts in the rear door cards too.  Every little helps.

Me too.

I reckon there's 50 ltr + of good square storage space under there and with so many sizes of plastic boxes available I have found good fits for them.  Mine are already boxed in on three sides though so accessible only through side doors.

Another big thanks for the battery relocation details tee-cee.  It was on my list but you have saved me much thinking.

Same goes for a lot of the other ideas on your build blog.  Very helpful and not just automatically jumping at over the shelf offerings which are often far from ideal.

At that price these might be worth buying for the swivels alone.

I already had them lined up on ebay.  Just thought that if someone had a pair I might give them £20 rather than someone on ebay.

Anyway, I went and bought them but now suspect they won't fit without some serious hacking of my cupboards.

This pic shows the clearance.  The other side is not so bad.

I knew I would have to cut for the mountings but didn't think about the actual stay!   ops   Might need a horrible great slot.   sad

How far do these "stays" stick out from the doors when closed?

Rear Door Steadies/Check Straps Wanted

Fair price paid if anyone has any spare.

Are they identical left and right or are they handed?

I can get some of ebay if no one has any.

#965 Re: Camper Conversions » Fridge / cool box » 2017-01-24 00:44:26

OAT

I have been looking into this as I can't get my old 2 way dometic working.  Found this somewhere and copied it for reference.

Many coolboxes use about 50 watt per hour,  which at 12v is 4.2 ah per hour.  An 85ah battery in decent nick should be good for 10-12 hrs.  A compressor type fridge/coolbox at more like 10 watt per hour could do more like 40 hrs on leisure.

I wouldn't want to risk my starter battery though.  Not if off grid anyway.  They do run flat out all the time they are connected though and often don't need to.  Once well chilled shutting down and switching back on every hour or so can greatly stretch out your valuable 12v.

As might one of these:-

Looking forward to following your progress Hippo.

Nice timing with the "naked" pics too.  Can you confirm that the rear door check straps are attached to the body with just a single bolt as it looks in the picture?  And are the two square holes in the lower left corner to access rear light fittings?

This area is all covered in plastic trim units and a fridge on mine so I've never yet seen behind.  I am going to need to strip it though to fit check straps and fix the rear light.

Also glad to see the possibility of fitting pockets in the door cards with those nice rectangular cavities.

In terms of gas cylinder, I'm thinking of going back to the old Camping Gaz 907 bottle, or even the 904, much smaller than anything by Calor.

The Camping Gaz cylinders are nice for stowing but silly money per refill.

Calor 4.5kg Butane                        £39.99            £16.75        £56.74               £3.72
Campingaz R907 (2.75kg)       £50.00            £30.00        £80.00             £10.90
Calor 3.9kg Propane                       £39.99            £15.99        £55.98              £4.10

(prices as at 2014)

I currently have a Camping Gaz 904 with a 901 as backup.  The refill costs are making me think of returning to Calor though.  (Unless abroad.)

edit... scuse the format of the table if scrambled.  Looked fine until posted.  Can be seen at the above link which has other answers to basic gas questions.

Well apart from getting three new hinges and new runners. Bet thats a pretty bill.

No option to replace just the rollers then?

I would expect them to wear before the rails.

Something like:-

http://tinyurl.com/hnxbtnw

Also considering in desperation for long bad weather drives... ratchet strap from door to door or if I can find a suitable size, some small over center cam type latches.  Or some simple deflector strips down the B post.

You would expect pulling the rear in might make the front worse but I noticed on the Fiat forum a couple of mentions of some success by adjusting the rear latching plate.

http://www.fiatforum.com/scudo/107536-s … doors.html

Most seem to resort to C's cure of more rubber strip.  This would obviously help the initial seal but wouldn't do anything to reduce the wind lift at speed.  Which is the main problem with mine.  Obviously tricky to measure while driving but at anything over 65 I can get my fingers through the gap.  (can't wave though wink) That would take quite some rubber to seal and probably make the door very tight to shut.

for example?
i cant visually see any issues with mine mind you

50 quid says that makes no difference. Reason i say that is get in your van and push the top of your door. It pushes out easy, the runner goes round a bend when you close the door so the runner is facing the door when shut. Nothing at the top holding it back.

While I respect your greater experience, I think the only way the top could be pushed out, with the door fully closed, is if those locators flex.  Or like mine. are snapped.

They work on a 45 degree angled wedge.  It shouldn't (couldn't?) allow movement outward without a corresponding movement backwards, unless those locators are a loose fit in their sockets, or they flex.

Next option will be in steel.

I noticed that one too.  Swivel seat bases and night heater worth quite a few quid alone.

I like how they have carpeted the whole of the rear doors.

Both sides top locators have snapped on mine.

I have bought a pair of replacements:-

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/162024283114? … EBIDX%3AIT

Just went out to fit them only to find they are fitted with star drive bolts and my drivers are 200 miles away.  As they seem to be too weak and regularly break as standard.  I also suspect they flex too much.  They should be in steel imo.   I intend to stuff their hollow interior with reinforced epoxy.  Hopefully it will reduce flex and allow them to do the job they are supposed to.  As in ease the top of the door inwards and hold it there.
