Dunno about the HDi ones but i know my old 1.9 D had a pump as part of the fuel filter assembly.
Pop the bonnet, just below the right wiper, there's something that looks like a push button pump thing.
I'm not sure if you can inspect the bushes without removing stuff.
Suppose you could just jack the van up, take the wheel off and the bottom of the shock - it could give you enough free play to see if there's any wiggle room in the bush.
Just noticed you're in south yorkshire too, if you want you can have the bush tool I used to install bushes on my old van - it's just sat in the garage doing not a lot!
Also my way of telling the rear bushes had perished was the noise coming from the back of the van when hitting a pot hole.
It sounds nearly identical to twanging a ruler on the edge of a desk
I did the rear bushes on my old 2001 dispatch, it's not that hard a job!
doing one side at a time is how I did it, no need to remove the rear axle that way.
Jack back of the van up
Remove the rear wheel
Stick something under the axle (a trolley jack is perfect)
Remove shock absorber
Watch the rear spring fall out
Undo the bush nut/bolt wossname
Pull out the rubber part of the bush (it'll be falling to bits)
Using a hacksaw cut out the old bush metal sleeve (might need a screwdriver to pry it out once you've cut it)
Give everything a clean
Using a threaded bar with some spacers and nuts, install the new bush
Put everything back together and do the other side.
I did buy a tool to install the new bush but it's essentially a threaded bar with nuts and spacers.
After threatening to set fire to the van due to the constant beeping, it then decided it would refuse to lock...
I had to fork out for a new lock mechanism and that has resolved the problem completely! Thank fook for that!
The good news is I have the old mech, so rather than bin it i'm going to see if there's a way to strip it down without destroying it so we can see if there's a way to fix these units rather than having to replace them (or hit them repeatedly with a screwdriver handle)
Regarding the knocking from the back, i'd advise finding a friendly pothole or speedbump (hah) and driving over it.
If it sounds like:
- "clunk clunk" then check to see if the exhaust has a broken bracket and that the spare wheel holder is secure.
- Twanging a ruler on the edge of a desk then it's probably the rear trailing arm bushes. You can replace these yourself, you just need some tools and a jack.
If the heater isn't blowing hot air, just double check that the antifreeze is topped up. A big enough loss (due to some piddly plastic bit splitting, ask me how i know...) can mean water isn't getting to the heater matrix bit.
In my old van the speedo was realiable up to 70mph and afterwards became a mere suggestion
Sat nav helped. Got the 1.9D up to 86mph and it was sodding terrifying! Would've gone faster if it wasn't for the airbrakes...
My dispatch has taken to telling me via morse code that the drivers door is open.
Why there needs to be an electronic device to tell me if the door next to me is open or not i don't know... It's clearly shut!
Is there a decent fix for this? I've already tried smacking the locking mechanism with a screwdriver handle, repeatedly and this mitigated the disco mode but it's back again.
I'm overjoyed, she's been saved from the scrap yard!
She's been whisked away to continue life as a cheap camper, heres hoping I get to see that battered red dispatch again someday.
I had a similar issue and it was bad diodes in the alternator. Though it was bad enough that the battery would drain overnight!
The glovebox has now been swapped with one that doesn't work! Cheers Ken! It was great to meet you!
Aye she's been a good one and i'll be sad to see her go. The cost of getting a new exhaust fitted plus the unknown of if it'll pass an MOT with rear end rot (and i know the passenger inner wheel arch is getting crusty, and it's making fun sounds when turning the steering wheel at low speeds...) meant I took the decision to replace her
With another Citroen Dispatch of course
If anyone does want it as is i've still a bit of time left on my insurance and i'm happy enough to drive her. Still half a tank of diesel in it too...
Some photos

I still have the spare bumper in my garage, it's the steel version (which are like sodding hens teeth!). It has the metal mounting brackets and the grey plastic side pieces.
What it doesn't have is the screws that attach the bumper to the mounting brackets, unsuprisingly the heads were rounded off and rusted to bits, they put up a heroic fight!
I do, i've changed the privacy settings in my profile
There's now an email link under my profile photo!
Sorry didn't notice the messages!
I've still yet to sort out scrapping the van, it's currently sat on the driveway.
If anyone wants to grab some stuff or preferably take the van off my hands I can be available this weekend.
My van is indeed pre-facelift. Not sure if the gearbox would fit a 2.0 turbo
If there's no interest i'm happy to let people rob some bits off the van before I get it scrapped. It has a working glovebox!
My beloved dispatch has reached a point where it's destined for the scrap yard, it needs a lot of welding, a new exhaust (if you're handy with a welder there's some of it on the M1 somewhere...) and makes some interesting noises when steering.
I've had it a good 6 years and it's been my daily driver. Love it to bits but time to move on (and i've just purchased a 2008 Citroen Dispatch).
There's some good bits:
Engine has about 85k on the clock and works like a charm
The alternator and battery are a year old
Rear doors have windows in them which can be salvaged
The seats are in good condition
Bulkhead (painted red to match the van)
Spare rear metal bumper
Valid MOT till January
It drives (i've been to scotland and northumberland in August, it's not the best but it got there and back!)
And there's some bad bits:
Rust
More Rust
Every panel looks as though it's been in a fight
I'm located in Doncaster, if there's no takers the poor thing will unfortunately have to take a permanent holiday to the scrap yard
Just had a text from the guy looking at my van and I thought it might be of interest for others
It's a bad diode on the alternator. Doh!
I use one of these
Does the trick, though I always forget which way around it's meant to go
Aye, I think the way forward is an auto electrician
I've done the usual suspect checks - 12v across battery terminals when engine off, 14v when engine on. There's a draw of 0.15A with the engine off though. Fuses are all good and everything looks clean (apart from the engine which is covered in anti-corrosion used engine oil from years ago - a clever feature!)
To my (simple) mind there must be a relay from the ignition that turns the live feed off when the ignition is off that is somehow jammed closed?
It makes me yearn for simple problems like changing the rear bushes
Well update for this morning
Try the van, dead. Battery fully drained and it's unlikely it'll charge up again. That's 2 it's gone through since wednesday.
I'm absolutely gutted.
I've not yet taken it for a run, but engine running everything seems fine.
I have noticed a new feature - with engine off and key out if i touch the indicator there's a really rapid clicking sound and the battery light flickers really fast.
Fun times ahead!
Just a slight update but nowhere closer to fixing it
open van, pull out relay for the blower - blowers stop working (hooray), test relay with multimeter and a battery and it works fine. So it's getting constant power to it even with the engine off, key out and van locked?
Hi all, long time owner, first time poster
my Mk1 Citroen Dispatch had a dead battery (my own fault for leaving the lights on...), did a swap today for a freshly charged one.
For some reason the heater blower now works when the van is running or turned off with the keys out. I've noticed the immobiliser light doesn't flash nor does the van does it pathetic beep if I open the door with the lights on. Could it be related?
