A blue tint does mean oil in the cyclinders  if you are getting full boost and not using much oil , it will be probably just the mileage  which i guess it has being an old taxi .. mine is a 1.9d with 97000  no smoke at all (simple engines though )

Well ive got the old one off , surprisingly easy to get too and  they use brass nuts at the manifold end  (witch makes its a breeze to undo) as at now works out at about 80 notes  with fitting kit and all joiners and clamps joining paste,,  bought a quality  complete front section   then  shortened it  before the silencer by about 2ft section  two joiners (stainless)  to finish it off  ,it  will mate up to existing back box and tail pipe (Stainless).
on another point the subframe looks sound and very well undersealed   these are good vans  I wouldent like to look under a Merc Vito of the same age

Crikey that’s a wad  n half  nearly half the price of my van, i just have a neat little  space between the gas bottle and water , did the job in my T3 and Rascal and now my scudo smile

i would leave the seats in place ,unless you are swapping them, they can be a ball ache  the outside two on each seat are the ones that rust ,also there are two sizes, one large extra one on each seat to take force of the seat belt

I always have a trolley jack ,small socket set(with allan/ torx bits) some spanners mole grips  and gaffer tape , but never had to used them once  on any
trip!     http://www.argos.co.uk/product/2467483? … Gwod1KQLXQ

Ah yeah, it might be quiet, but once you get a bit of help, advice or general 'pointing in the right direction', what more can ya ask for? ?

Maybe not as popular as the Transporters or Transits or whatever, but a great little van none the less.

they dont rot like transits either , not that little either when parked up alongside a SWB T5 smile

#15 Re: Camper Conversions » Swivel Seats » 2017-01-29 22:30:17

theses  806 / synergie / Ulysse  seats have just popped up on flea bay  just the thing   bases drawers the lot ,,                                                                                        http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/CAPTAIN-SWIVE … 2406160146

#17 Re: Camper Conversions » Swivel Seats » 2017-01-29 15:23:19

pity they haven’t the bases as well   would have been a strait swap  as the bases are lower and level   where as the scudo is on an angle,, i bet the they will fit though

#18 Re: Camper Conversions » Swivel Seats » 2017-01-29 14:20:46

check the width  when i was thinking of just swivels   most where to narrow  for the scudo  , otherwise its  fine  , , casper is the one to ask  he fitted swivel plates , i put complete 806 seats and bases in no faffing about   bu tgetting  hard to get hold of

Has any one done a cv joint on one of these . just wondering if you can push the shaft and joint out through the hub when on full lock  , I did  on a Citroen Xsara once . while undr the van last week i found the  os cv boot ripped to shreads,, I dont know  for how long  so just going to get the complete joint kit

#20 Re: Maintenance » Exhaust » 2017-01-20 18:06:18

they  are only shortened   with the back box  moved forward  , its only the downpipe and the front silencer that nead replacing on mine  (they have lasted  15 years) the back box is stainless with a 90 degree bend and tail pipe   quite simple   after fabricating one for  my old VWT3 TDI conversion

#22 Re: Camper Conversions » my project » 2017-01-19 08:52:27

there are allways bottles (calor) up for grabs free or cheap , also you can hand in a butane bottle and swap it for a propane.( propane is a shorter bottle)

#23 Re: Maintenance » Exhaust » 2017-01-18 22:16:34

Im not going to pay 300 quid for one,  silly money  i already have a stainless back box on it so will be using that as well
