I have had a workig rev counter on my phone with a torque app and a blue tooth eml327 in obd port
I got my arch liner for a facelift mk1 which is slightly dfferent from a non facelit from and delivered by Autodoc.,.....................
It was over a year ago but I guess you could try there..........................
Delboy have a look at my interior on some of my first posts on the forum .........................
it would surpise you what weight your carrying about in apparently an empty van..........................
My bed is on a metal frame all be it square tubing and it's a 1.9 non turbo ..................
Although van is slow it keeps up with traffic and on occasions I'll drop a gear going up hill and Ive had it to spain [more than once] and just into Portugal. ..................
OAT you are so correct in what you are saying about it all .................
As you may have heard a consultant I saw diagnosed me with a debilitating condition [I found] that turns out to be a dyspraxia to my left side ...................
their take on things was I was dragging my left leg and had balance problems for starters ..................
So even though I have reports from consultants at the hospital and my GP ...................................
The goernment decision maker [and I've been refered to neurology] said there is nothing wrong with me ................................
And So Apparently I can run the four minute mile with you. ....................
Be sure your stop soliniod has not gone sticky and stopping fuel flowing to injectors
I'd try KENBW2's theary, but it's many years ago now my 307 with a 2.0 hdi had a dicky injector and would not start at first when it felt like it it would go an hdi expert mechanic thought fuel pressure regulator/sensor on fuel rail was wonky as that was symtoms it was giving at time but in the end tested injectors for holdiing the enormous pressure and found one leaking quite badly and could not hold the minimum pressure needed for starting. Hdi's don't like things like water or cooking oil.
P.S.I was lucky and found a working but noisey second hand injector with right codes on it inc suffix letter and no need to code them in.
p.p.s.My DW8/B Camper-Van has a flat battery after sitting for winter, I think its down a glow plug relay athough ECU says glow plugs heating on dash I don't believe it.
mygear nob is held on with a scew..............
I have had it of a few times in the past for jobs .................
Its a smothish gearlever rod and thought they were all like that...............
Ivehad van seven ish years and nob is new looking and stays tight.............
Ive got approx 102,000mls on van now, This mod if thats what it is....................
Was done before I bought it.....................
JohnDragonMan: had the front wings off his mk1 face lift.............
I'm sure he found the fog light wires for his van tucked up behind the inecator wires............
I wonder if its the same on later vans.....................
well they say old age doesn't come on it's own and it definitely didn't here .........
Yes I was planning a trip either september / october past or eary next year but that has taken a back seat at mo ...............
As you know my partner has Non-Hodgkin Lymphoma and me with my condition and lots of hospital appointments has kyboshed a lot of things .............................
They also discovered that my partner has a Stomach ulcer which is also not clever ..................................
I'm guessing stress as it was not showing on last set of tests ...................................
We have not really used van this year more than half dozen nights as we've had no real motovation to ... The first night we couldn't get to sleep ... which was strang ... So we went back to her place in middle of night .............
The last time was after we went to Ayr for a fish supper and then afterwards again stopped about 100 miles from home .................... what a pantomime it turned out to be........ A full new bottle of gas but no burners worked for breakfast or coffee so we ended upgetting coffee and something to eat out a burger bar............
Got New regulator and gas pipe for Van... Got old regulator out but still to finish and get gas flowing in Van and that was a few months ago now ..................
I might now be in my mid sixtes but I don't feel that old
Casper sorry Im not on line much these days I just saw your post .............
still got the Van...... but I have been diagnosed with some kind of condition currently that has left me very debilitated
If you go to Glencaple near Dumfries it's self ...........
opposite the Nith hotel if your lucky there will be a space in the motorhome stop over there from memory its free ..........
I've stopped on the old harbour when it was used as a mucky car park and I've had a little bit to drink .........
Also seen the bore go up the Nith river here aswell.......
They also did maybe still do decent grub in the Nith if you fancy a bite.........
Ive been going to the swan pub in kingholm quay which is now up for sale of late for my grub .................
That looks suspiciously like the radio stalk already fitted to my 306 that I rarely use....................
Casper I have not been on here much lately and I am older again next month[less than three weeks now] having had nothing but ricers or a couple of british I thought there was some thing wrong with me when I admited to likeing a fat boy but then I thought it was the denim blue satin paint I liked...............
Then it transpirered I fancied a shot on a Honda 750 Shadow a black spirit one that along with likeing a Mondeo I saw got me worried ...................
Don't worry gettin older doesnt hurt and also I'm in worse overall shape than you.................
I'd say..................
A Bosch pump should look a bit like

A lucas/Delphi type pump like
Both are rotery pumps but the lucas version uses a diaphragm in it and is overal a weaker pump, Bosch is best option here for veg oil, An even better pump option for veg oil is an in line pump as used in old mercedes but we have to *iss with the *oc* we've got
Although I have a 306 Peogoet with a DW8 and a Bosch pump Im sure all DW8B engines have a lucas/Delphi pump my 2005 Van has basicly same engine as 306 but has a lucas/delphi pump fitted to the updated DW8B.............................. I am willing to be told otherwise about DW8B's and Bosch pumps from factory..................
A bosch pump should fit once clocked in bracket..................
My back box on Van fell off a few years ago just before MOT time on a trip I seam to remember getting a cat back system for it from B&M exhausts who do a load of cats also.............
The only other thing I also seem to remember is the sleave didnt fit and was returned, I don't know if someone had been there before us ...........
We made our own conecting sleave in the end.........................
I now seem to remember thinking thats a small diameter pipe......................
I have cleaned maf sensors before with little or or no success, The trick seams to be keeping it clean [not always an easy option] and when it's becomes dirty and thrown a code up I've had to replace with a OEM version ................
Again not always the easiest option these days I try to avoid computer controls .........................
I also think it worth tackling at least cleaning or replacing EGR...........
Or possibly block it off ...........................
you may have to have some resticted flow through it, Being as young as it is and working [i.e. Computer will know if it's dead] ................
I have a friend who discovered an EGR fault on his Astra estate[He no longer has it and I dontknow what year it was] .....................
He got another working EGR from a scrappy and just plugged it in. piggybacking it but not using it effectively ..................................
It looks very much like a replacement steering wheel or a wheel cover either stiched on by yourself or recovered by a professional or one of those you buy at an auto store........................
Let us know what cure you find or go for ............................
Sorry Im not being helpfull
I have a set of Rhino bars for my 05 dispatch, Which I believe Rhino do a ladder roller type thing for...................
Those roof bars you have fitted look very much like the ones I have for my 306 Peugeot, Are they OEM type Factory fitment or from the Van dealership? ..................
I would go with casper that it's protection for the filler pipe etc but just take note that on the other side is the self above the wheel arch and may offer some structural assistance other than a handy spot to sit the other battery like mine is
Apologies to Ricko for thread hijack effectively ...........................
The Glenmorangiie Distillery is near Tain, The Head office is in Leith .................................

Inveraray ... The home of the Author of the tales of Parra Handy and of course The Vital Spark ..................................

Plockton ... The town where they filmed Hamish Macbeth played by Robert Carlyle....................
Dounreay ... The worlds first nuclear power station of it's type ...................................

Ulapool ......................................

Somewhere South of Duness near a Peaty river where we have paked up and been eaten by midges .............................
We stopped a few times at Sango Sands campsite..............
We = the boys escaping and out to play ......................
I can remember a few times there, One where we had pitched on to much of a slope near the road and I slide off the sleeping mat through the night ..................
I think it was that time we met a guy who had just retuned from a trip to Spain on his pizza bike and now taking his dog on a sponsored tour of uk he was 71 ...He'd put 38,000miles on that in 4Years .................
We have one bike each as she wanted her own when I was thinking on trading mine in for a 1050 tiger
I've got a little 650 a 2005 the same age as Van with barely 22,000 miles and hers just over 7,500 miles with hers out of MOT longer than mine as she's unable to go any real distance on it now ............
Mine has been out of MOT for 18 months nearly 2years because of lockdown like Van usage..............

Another time when a tent collapsed with the wind coming off the sea .......................
Also the time my bike trousers fell down when I was on my way to their very basic camp kitchen ................
They do have there on the beach section a wooden walk way on a sort of ridge out to a viewing area ...............
I'm not so sure I can manage going down to Smoo cave now......................
If you go over the road from the toilets/ car park area to the corner there are holes in the ground going into the cave ...................
you get a much better view in the cave especially if you take a boat tour .........................
With the Van we normally stop before or after Durness althou I have stopped in a sort of lay- by near that corner at smoo cave ...................
If on heading east out of Durness you take the loop rather than the short cut up the hill ..................
you'll come to/pass John Lennon aunty's cottage that he spent his summer holidays in hence the conection there ...................
Apparently he tried to buy the area and crashed a hire car with yoko and his son julian in it when up that way ..................................
I'll dig out and upload a buch of photos.....................
My speedo started to do the same and stops and starts working when it feels like it ..................
But not until after giving away a perfectly good set of clocks ...............
which I thought at time were faulty................
This 3rd set I fitted started to do the same shortly after fitting and giving the other set away..........................
I've since been told there is a small plastic gog for the speedo dfive in gear box thats most probably at fault ...................
The clocks I parted with woked pefectly the whole time until he sold the van for a berlingo thingy ...................................
Love it and great to hear of these trips .................
I have done several trips up there Applecross and the campsite there was a great favorite with the bike for a while...................
Also when time permited the campsite at Durness and a visit to Smoo's cave as well as the not as good John Lennon Garden memorial.....................
Did a version of the north coast 500 before it was called that and famous in and on bike, car and Van several times ..............
Did the tour and the whiskey tasting near the newish built Tain bridge in the Glen morangie Distilary and others up north obviously ................
My latest desire is for Mainland Orkney ... Sailing not from Scrabster but From Gills bay with Pentland ferries, The history there along with the ease of finding a decent park up in Okney and also going to Dunnet head the Uk's most northerly point on way there or back ..................................
Acctually one of the jobs on occasion was to go to the Norfrost Factory with the artic in Castletown for freezers usually very near Dunnet head on the john o groats to thurso, dounreay etc road ........................
I love heading up that way but my partner is no longer really fit enough to head up there to do battle now with the hoards in the summer months and although we've done it before age, infirmity and along with hospital appointments has scuppered the better winter months for us both .........................
Like Kenbw2 I'm now wanting to throw caution to the wind and go ..............
Oh BTW you can't expect to do a week up North of Scotland and expect to stay dry every day...............................
Although a couple years ago now and one of last real outings for the Van bar other than obviously going to skye right before lockdown...................
We wondered why everything was closing ..............
Naively we then thought to check out and plan as it would be nice to try an island hopper and see the outer hebredies as we have still to go there .........................
But anyway I really quite enjoyed our Campbeltown and Dunoon trip ...........................
The information you have makes it difficult to decide where the issue is ............
It maybe possible that although any wiring for this system looks ok it might be defective ..................
Something in my memory says air bag module is in a recess on floor under the middle passenger seat and is prone to damp or filling with water [I have a 2005 dispatch van and on checking ... Mine suffered wetness in recess].......................
Check everything wiring wise ... cruddy connections ,broken wires etc ...................
Also there was some similar talk a while back about a resistor to resolve a similar issue on mk 1 and facelift vans or it was possibly berlingos and resistors ...................
Sorry ... Not very helpful but something to think about ..........................
Years ago I had A Renault truck which did much the same .......
Come to even the smallest not even noticable hill temp would rise then fall after weeks of head scratching I was told by an older guy who was younger than me now probably ..............
To check the stat. ..................................
It turned out to be sticky and late on opening ...........................
Was probably slowly failing ...................
A darn sight easier than doing all that work to change a head gasket find nothing un-toward with it and be no better than before ...............
Excellent...............
