Obviously not a great solution, but do you know some Dispatch/Expert/Scudos/Synergies/806s/Ulysees have a handbrake that you can fold down without disengaging?

The button on the end pulls out letting you drop it down.

My old 1.9d xud dispatch had 420k orig engine never had the head off orig gear box,

I used it for multidrop deliveries was doing 1000mile aweek every 6weeks had oil n filter change, engine was still sweet as a nut didnt use oil or water

the only issues I had where the door locks and the ring gear was worn out

That's impressive. What happened to it in the end?

That's gorgeous - it looks in amazing nick for its age. How many miles has it got on it?

My favourite part is your self contained kitchenette, but I'm also eyeing up your rear seats a bit.

I notice you have the sticky out section for the rear seat belt. Could you cut that out and move your kitchenette to gain some valuable extra inches?

the non-turbo 1.9D hasn't got much top end

Hasn't got much bottom end either! But it does the job well enough.

Nice to see you had a good trip, they're a nice size for this sort of thing. Big enough to have plenty of space while being small enough to nearly treat like a car.

From what I hear, you may struggle to fit it as the factory window doors have a recess to make the window sit flush (i.e the doors are different, not just a stock door with a window in it)

Shame they thought of that and not, ya know, making the rear door flush with the front door =/

Which scrappy ken?  And is there much left of the van?

I will be down that way next week and need a couple of little bits.

One in Shipley, Peugeot Citroen Breakers. There's very little left of it. It's an ex taxi, has windows all round. No engine at all. Has all doors except the sliding ones, has an unofficial bench seat in the back.

What are you after? I did have a rummage round it, so I'll try and remember if had what you're after.

#1508 Re: Maintenance » Just noticed this on my sliding door latch » 2018-07-13 14:25:58

I was in a scrapyard looking for some bits and saw they had a windowed sliding door, so for £25 I got me a new one.

Doesn't have the dent or bumper strip mine has either, so bonus.

Greetings in return!

Tell us about yourself and your van. Pictures welcome!

#1510 Re: Camper Conversions » Single Passenger Seat » 2018-07-09 22:43:54

Something that occurred to me, surely a driver's seat should fit in the passenger side, in terms of bolts in the floor.

Only problem I can see if getting the seat belt clip on the right side.

Worst case scenario, get one from Europe. But only if you can't find a way to sort the seat belt.

wow yikes it would take quite a bit of force to do that

You underestimate the power of the DW8 engine. I can reach at least 65mph on the motorway.

luthier wrote:

my doors are more like aeroplane wings when I'm driving as they bellow out at the top that much lol big_smile  I wouldn't have thought this was the cause of the metal splitting though, surely ?

I think it's possible. When the doors are wobbling in and out with the wind, the only thing holding it closed is that latch. It'd make sense that it'd start to show wear.

#1512 Re: Maintenance » Just noticed this on my sliding door latch » 2018-07-09 01:25:15

Yea my first plan is to fashion up some wind deflectors for the front doors to get the wind away. Contingency plan if it gets worse is either some washers to spread the load, or some kind of plate that can go over the top. Will probably need some longer screws for that to work.

I wonder if it can be welded back together or if it's too precise for that

I fitted these doors about a year ago. I don't remember seeing anything nearly that bad, but I didn't look at it in huge detail. I assume it could still have rusted in that time maybe.

I'm guessing it's because of the wind sucking the door out as I drive, and the latch is the only thing holding it closed.

#1514 Re: Camper Conversions » Single Passenger Seat » 2018-07-04 23:15:39

I robbed mine from my Citroen Synergie - any of the car equivalents (Synergie, 806, Ulysee) will be a drop in replacement.

There are some swivel seat versions, if you get lucky enough to find them.

#1515 Re: General Discussion » Insurance » 2018-06-24 20:26:57

Damn you, I thought I'd hit the jackpot at £500 for 3000 mile limit. But then I'm 29 with 2 years' NCB.

If you fancy sticking your VIN on here (is it safe to do so? I dunno) I can check Citroen Service and compare it with my 1999 model.

Actual campsites or just somewhere to park up?

#1520 Re: General Discussion » High revs in 5th gear » 2018-06-04 01:01:54

It's like I saw on the Berlingo forum with regard to the DW8. You just learn to live life a bit more slowly.

#1521 Re: Camper Conversions » Round the Cumbrian peninsula, then I had to cross the border! » 2018-06-04 00:59:25

Always good to get out for a laid back trip. FYI I've stayed at Wastwater before where there's no signposted restrictions - nice single spot: https://goo.gl/maps/aUbNA14oz5L2

I notice a lot of us are around the Scottish borders a lot. We should do a meet round there.

#1522 Re: General Discussion » Rev Counter / Tacho » 2018-05-31 22:42:42

But how will you ever tell the time while checking your speed?!

The Synergie/806 had one.

It's on my list to swap mine over and see if it works

#1523 Re: Maintenance » What's that plastic cover on the dashboard for?? » 2018-05-28 14:07:38

Yea I've noticed the grey bag, it's weird. I saw no sign of one on my 1998 806 or 1996 Synergie. Digital heat controls I think were a later addition too.

Did have the rev counter, but surely the time is much more important, right?

#1524 Re: Maintenance » What's that plastic cover on the dashboard for?? » 2018-05-27 23:15:38

You mean the one immediately to the left of the stereo? Again, on the Synergie/806 that's a vent. Confused the hell out of me when I went from 806 to Dispatch. I still don't get why it's different between the two.

Congrats! It's my second most stressful time of year, after insurance renewal.

Did you win first time, or need a second go?
